Chelsea Order Vitesse Arnhem to Avoid Champions League Qualification
The Dutch FA is to investigate Chelsea's links to Vitesse Arnhem amid claims the Blues have interfered in a title bid.
http://www.football365.com/premier-l...a-Vitesse-Link ![]() "Former Vitesse owner Merab Jordania has alleged in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that ‘orders’ from Stamford Bridge have called on a push for UEFA Champions League qualification to be eased. Vitesse have strong ties to Chelsea, with as many as seven youngsters from the Blues’ ranks having headed to Holland on loan this season. Only four remain at present, but English influence in Dutch affairs has become a subject of heated debate. Vitesse are now under the control of Alexander Chigrinsky, an associate of Chelsea supremo Roman Abramovich. With UEFA rules preventing two clubs under the same ownership competing in the Champions League, Dutch authorities are to look into how much sway Chelsea hold over events in Arnhem. A statement released by the KNVB read: “The board of directors of the KNVB have contacted Vitesse about these claims. “In the interest of the integrity of the league, the KNVB is asking Vitesse to give an explanation of their organisational structure. “We have asked for information about the new owners. “Persons are not allowed to occupy a position in several professional clubs in Holland or abroad. Vitesse also have to send a testimonial of good conduct.” Vitesse have played down Jordania’s accusations, with president Bert Roetert saying: “This almost seems like an April Fools' joke.” http://www.football365.com/premier-l...a-Vitesse-Link ![]()
