4K Ultra HD TVs - worth the price ?

Just saw it first time among other 1080p and it stood out with stunning picture quality ( and matching price, lol ). Would you buy one or maybe you have it. Post your experience

In a word NO

Unless the content is mastered and authored in 4K it actually looks WORSE on a 4K tv

wait...the price WILL drop and if more content and channels will become available then its worth looking at but really only if you are going to go to a super sized screen. If you sit 12 feet from your 52 inch TV a 52 inch 4K tv wont look much different but at 12 feet a 100 inch 4K TV would look lots better assuming of course the content being played is 4K and not upsampled 1080P

I'm using a 50" 4k as a monitor but I wouldn't use it for a regular TV.

Given broadcast TV in the US is still only 720p/1080i, I don't see a mass adaptation of 4k TVs by content producers or consumers anytime soon.

4K TV's were made mostly because 1080p TV's stop looking good when screens go past 55 inches or so just because the pixels are too big. 4K TV's are expensive now but the prices will drop soon and bigger sets (60", 70") will start hitting the shelves.

1080p content looks good on 4K TV's because they do a good job of upscaling the content. However, if the source is bad (such as by satellite or cable with lower than necessary bandwidth), you will notice more mpeg artifacts (so called "pixelation") and other garbage in the video. The best way to watch a 4K TV is with a Bluray disk which has alot more bandwidth and therefore more image detail.

4K content is being made right now, but there's not much of it yet, and sometimes some supporting hardware is required. I heard Netflix is testing streaming 4K content. It's probably a killer to your home Internet bill though.

We don't plan to buy a 4K set this year but probably will in a year or two. I'm anxious to see the curved screen 4K sets. They look cool.

Still too expensive but price will drop quick now.
More interested in OLED. The colors of fx the LG 55EA980W is supposed to be amazing, but price of $5000 is still high too.

A combination of 4K and OLED would be cool to have though.
