Russia and China sign gas contract worth half trillion dollars

Bye-bye cheap russian gas

Special thanks to clueless US foreign policy and dumb lazy Ukrainians. Slovakians hope it will be a very very very long and cold winter in Ukraine.

Actually, the gas contract had no pricing attached, and as such just carries on in the same vein as these talks have been going...which has been for the last 10 years!

So yes, a bilateral agreement was signed...but they failed to agree on a deal.

It will be much more expensive. EU needs Russian gas but Russia no longer needs Europe as a customer after 2018

I think it is time to kiss big oil goodbye.

Just need 10 years of hard science and innovation. Tidal..geo thermal, even solar. Then electric cars can take over.

Natural gas is used mostly for heating homes, not powering cars.

these politicized go green gfy peeps crack me up. To think that by acting elite, pointing your finger at those you think are less than, calling them a few names will get them to go green?

think about how backwards that is. If you want people to NOT go green, ever, keep it up.

I wasn't making that up.

?There is a phenomenon which I would like to point out very seriously. There are a lot of illegal migrants in Ukraine. We can talk about thousands, who would be interested in crossing the Schengen border,? PM Fico said Friday at the GLOBSEC annual conference in the country?s capital.

"And we are getting more and more concerned that various groups organizing illegal crossing of the Slovak-Ukrainian border increasingly show their readiness to go into armed conflicts," he added.

In February, Jozef Danko, spokesman for the Slovak village of Vysne Nemecke on the border with Ukraine, told The Voice of Russia radio that the inflow of vehicles from Ukraine increased, the cars coming not only from the nearest locations bordering the village, but also from other parts of Ukraine."

That's bullshit.

For starters, in Ontario, I am not allowed to directly consume electricity generated by solar panels. I would have to sell it back into the grid.

Plus the unsubsidized cost of installing a solar roof is prohibitive and will not result in any savings over the life of the product.

Then there are performance issues. The doesn't always shine.

The whole FIT program in Ontario is one of the worst government boondoggles in the history of humanity. It is nothing but a huge subsidy program for the guilty feeling sheeple who believe all of the doom-and-gloom warm-monger and green bullshit.

In the end I would still be heating my house with natural gas so what the hell is the point?

you can read any of my posts in this thread and enjoy my well organized and thoughtfully written comments.

But to your question, I'll help you out since you missed it

1. from the article-

Quote:
For this ploy to work, it's important not to look too closely at details. Like the fact that much of the gas probably won't make it to Europe
(she states right there she's dreaming up her diatribe)

Quote:
selling a temporary glut of fracked gas on the world market,
(there is no temporary glut of fracked gas, that's completely made up.)

Quote:
And most of all, it's important not to notice that building the infrastructure necessary to export gas on this scale would take many years in permitting and construction ? a single LNG terminal can carry a $7bn price tag, must be fed by a massive, interlocking web of pipelines and compressor stations, and requires its own power plant just to generate energy sufficient to liquefy the gas through super-cooling. By the time these massive industrial projects are up and running, Germany and Russia may well be fast friends.
(I hope I don't need to explain this to you, _RIchard_)

conclusion: the article is fantasy. it's a what-if based on made up details.

Finally, the author, naomi klein is a career anti-global capitalist making her living from writing books criticizing global capitalism, her agenda is very clear.

Here's something that should make the anti-fracking crowd at least a little uncomfortable:

Hollywood celebrities caught on hidden camera accepting money from "Middle Eastern oil interests"

It should but it probably won't.

You are 100% right about the micro fit program is pure nonsense.

Regarding prices they really came down a lot since 2010 and the income I get from selling the power is always more then my electric consumption so it pays back even if i don't like to the way it works with micro fit.

A few years ago I had to replace the entire roof and estimates for normal asphalt shingles were in the 17K ballpark and solar shingles 30k. so i opted for solar shingles so basically i only paid 13k for it.

We changed heating from gas to electricity and apart from December, January and February the power out is always more then power in.

Now in Algarve different story , paid 12 000 euros for it , Portuguese government gave 30% back and i keep what i need and sell only what i don't need.

Keep safe

IN Europe many cars are using LPG, but most important is that industry is using it. With price up, final products will be more expensive.

Russians are not idiots, they won't raise prices for EU, they just showed them where they can be listening to USA and that they have alternative to EU bullshit.

again, you challenged my view and asked me to reply, I did. You can either appreciate and respect that I took the time to answer you or you can take it as an opportunity to be a dick. either way is fine with me. nevertheless, I'm pointing out you asked for something and I delivered, you're welcome.

do you believe a request for clarification is a challenge?

i notice your response didn't clarify anything

so you wish for me to say thank you because you deigned to respond to my request for clarification? without actually clarifying anything?

dont try to disguise the fact that the only reason you ride on a motorcycle is that you don't fit in cars.

is that what you feel i try to do? perhaps i was merely trying to find some form of.. substance.. to your empty statements regarding rather established and respected writers.

is there another part of my character you wish to attack, in what seems to be a desperate attempt to move the conversation away from your seemingly lack of willingness to actually clarify your statements?

i mean, proverbially stamping your foot isn't actually clarifying anything

nor is attacking me going to change that.

I haven't attacked you. Quite the contrary. I respectfully answered your loaded question and factually pointed out your opportunistic posting style.

i just wrote that, and even i cannot believe the level of euphemistic bullshit it involves.

right and what will exon, chevron, shell, bp, etc do? they will never let that happen, government officials are on their pay roll... funny how in europe/usa they want to come up with alternative energy and hurt Russia, but they don't realize a lot of countries in the west make a ton of money from oil/gas... let's take Canada, their whole economy is based on oil/gas, that idiot Harper needs to stfu

the funniest part of this is you obviously didn't even read the entire article, if you had, you'd see it's a weak attempt to show some nefarious plot to sell NG so the author could advance her agenda that it's wrong to sell NG due to methane and it distracts from her wish to switch to alternative fuels.

you called me out, _RIchard_. Not the other way around. I posted my comment on the article, you had an issue with my doing that and made a prissy comment. I've handled that respectfully and articulately.
