I just wonder if we have become so busy with so much trash in our lives that it may be easy to just forget especially if you are off your regular schedule on a particular day.

I think it's possible. The trick is to leave the car in an secluded place so it doesn't draw attention.

Here in Phoenix, where temperatures reach 110+ in the summer, every year someone does it. We've already had our first dog death because of it a couple weeks ago.

I remember reading a tip somewhere that said to place your cell phone in the back seat with the baby as most people won't forget that. Sad commentary if you think about it.

We had one a while back where the woman forgot to drop the baby off at daycare, completely spaced.

She came out from a day at the office to find her baby dead in the back seat.

She was simply frazzled one morning and that was that.

I don't get how people can do that. Some guy here took his grandbaby out to Walmart and left her in the car running at 1am so some guy stole the car with the baby in it. He dropped the baby off at a fire station then got into high speed chase with the cop's.

There was one yesterday - I forget where. The parent "forgot" to drop the kid off at day care, went to work, and came out eight hours later to his baby dead in the car.

Here it is, it happened in Florida:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...-car/10677819/

No, I have never forgotten my child or lost track of my child.

After having kids I can see how it would be possible to forget your kids in the car. Take 6 months or so of only getting 1-2 hours of sleep per night and it's amazing how much you forget...

There is no excuse for leaving a kid in a hot car. This is just another example of why IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT ONE PARENT FOCUS ON THE KIDS WHILE THE OTHER PARENT WORKS. All it takes is 2 seconds and your kid is dead and there are many ways a kid can die such as around water, in parking lots, and by swallowing objects and choking. As it turns out all this cultural re-programming about all women needing to have a career and family is total bullshit. It does not work regardless of what you see portrayed on the idiot box. The career mothers I know have missed out on most of the special moments of a child's first few years and nannys and daycare workers have taken their place.

I gave an assclown shit a few years ago because he locked his Dog in the car while he was going into a store. (It was summer, about 75f). I told him his dog will be dead in 5 minutes even with the windows cracked open. He argued that it was only 75 and that it wouldn't happen. I told him if he left his dog in his car, that I would call the police and smash his window to rescue his dog.

He got pissed off and took his dog out of his car and started to walk away. I drove away but not too far and sure enough, he took his dog back to his car, locked it up, and walked back to the store.

Fortunately a police car was nearby. I drove up to them, told them what happened, and they immediately went to the car to see the dog, which was howling after only 2 minutes and panting like crazy.

The car owner saw them from the store and ran back. They gave him a $500 fine.

Caveman? Nah just someone who cares are sees neglectful parents living on their fucking smart phones and are oblivious to their kids. And knows mothers who drop their babies off to daycare for 50 hours a week. That is fucking child abuse when they are that young.

I am all for the father being the primary care provider if the the woman has a career however of the woman ever wants a divorce than the bigoted and biased hatemongers in family court will treat the father like a piece of dog shit even if he raised the child from an infant.

I heard something similar to that here, except it was the husband who left the baby in the car. Seriously, to those parents out there, what the fuck? Do mornings really get so droning to the point where you can forget your kid is in the back seat?

They Used To Mail Children

A photo from the era, poking fun at child deliveries

The parcel post system in the United States began in 1913, and almost immediately people began testing the bounds of what ?packages? could be sent. In mid-January that year, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Beauge of Glen Este, Ohio realized it would be cheaper to send their son to visit his grandmother via parcel post than buying a standard rail ticket. They paid 15 cents in stamps, and ?insured? him for $50. The Postmaster quickly outlawed the practice, but people kept skirting the rules, including sending a 14-pound baby to grandma (a popular destination for children, it seems). After a peak in 1915, they were finally able to put the kibosh on mailing kids.

True. But the car is one place they're often NOT screaming and drooling in the back seat. One of mine passes out before we pull out of the development.

I know someone who has been in a world of trouble for years because she left her kid in a department store parking lot for 5 minutes, came back out and someone had called the cops on her.
