When you catch some of TED on cable tv...
Do you notice you always stop watching the movie after Flash gets into a fight with Ming?
Because after that, the entire last hour only has one fucking joke... when the guy dances to the Tiffany video... and that's it. I love TED, but right in the middle, after the Ming fight, when the house party is over... the entire movie is over. That's one really funny movie that turned into rat shit half way thru. But the first 50 minutes were great. |

TED is so funny and the writer used him to say all the funny and nasty things everybody thinks, but socially we can't say... so his character TED got past that, became socially acceptable, and the most they could come up with is a car chase from the 80's and a cheap death scene? It was like watching a horrible made for tv movie. Act one, great comedy and great set ups, leading up to.... nothing. All they had to do was give TED something else interesting to do, another situation, another girlfriend, another fight, anything, TED can do no wrong, but they moved the focus off of TED and on to the kid, the weird father and a sappy poorly written relationship that had no humor or drama. (Mila and Walberg) and turned a great comedy into shit. Remove Mila and you got nothing to look at in act 2 and 3. To fix it: after the Ming fight, have Mila kick Walberg out of the apartment and force Walburg to go live with TED for a few weeks...wow! the movie is on now... he could lose his job and be dependent on TED for pot, TED can set up Walberg with a new girlfriend...(which he later misses Mila) then he and TED could do mushrooms at the mall... Imagine TED on shrooms at the mall?? There would be no end to what he would do and say!!! Then TED can see a female stuffed bear at a toy store and fall in love with it....on shrooms... and maybe at the end of the movie, there's a hint that she becomes alive? A cliffhanger...setting up TED:2 (just tossing out ideas in 2 minutes) The list goes on and on.. TED at a library trying to find porn..... TED at a woman's rights convention... yelling at women to go make him a sandwich....where Walburg bumps into Mila, but Mila is dating her boss now... they could've done any fucking thing to make act 2 and 3 amazing!!! But a fucking car chase and all the relationship drama SHIT ruined a great film. I blame the writers for giving up. They rested on their laurels too soon. But we still have the first 50 minutes, that I love to catch on cable. |

I agreee with you, NewOldPlayer. TED is a pretty funny movie but most of the best jokes are in the first half. The second half just drags. They switch from a vulgar comedy to some pointless Drama. SPOILER WARNING: When Ted is kidnapped I was expecting some crazy twisted hilarity from the father and son but instead you just get a little un-funny mild violence (ear pulled off), a boring car chase, and ... meh.... !
I am the same way with House of a Thousand Corpses. It's one of my favourite horror (/comedy?) movies. It is so cool and so fun right up until the midnight walk scene where they are about to lower something into a pit, and then I just lose all interest. Weird.
