Unresponsive plane over Cuba

This is live, small jet but still!

The pilot of a plane (#N900KN) is slumped over the control, unresponsive, fighter pilots say. Currently flying over Cuba.

With today's technology it would be easy to make airplane seat that jettisons the pilot if he is unconscious long enough and or the plane starts falling rapidly (with unconscious pilot).

Even modern cars monitor driver and starts beeping if he is falling into sleep.

Jettisoning pilot form airplane is no big deal, at least if he is the only one in that plane. So, maybe not the best practice for commercial airliners.

It would be a huge problem if hes over 10k feet as well lol. This isnt such a good idea

Well, jettisoning at x-altitude if the pilot is unconscious. For example Stuka dive bombers had system that pulled the plane up at certain altitude (when diving for attack), as pilots sometimes blacked out.

" The Stuka's design included several innovative features, including automatic pull-up dive brakes under both wings to ensure that the aircraft recovered from its attack dive even if the pilot blacked out from the high acceleration."

I still dont understand how the plane crashed. If there was two healthy humans on the plane and that pilot was slumped over the controls for a couple of hours im sure they could have come up with a plan...or broke down the door between the cabin and pilot...something.

25,000 feet needs oxygen supply on the plane - if that fails everyone on the plane goes down. frosted window means broken pressure cabin - everyone dead at the same time

Any sky dive over 15k feet requires oxygen, that's what I'm basing my statement on. 25k is ludacris, you would pass out indefinitely. Not to mention the rate of decompression of the plane...it would most likely burst your lungs if your mouth was open.

are we talking about the same thing?

you asked why the passengers didn't do anything, according to the article the plane was at 25,000 feet with frosted windows. that would explain that - and why it crashed (once the fuel runs out)

Sure did, only he was over the US mainland. He had passengers also.

There were multiple people on board. It sounds like they lost oxygen and all passed out / died from that...at least that is what the local news is reporting.

This has happened a few times, planes lose cabin pressure and oxygen, everyone incapacitated, auto-pilot keeps the plane going until it runs out of fuel.

This is what I suspect happened to MH 370 also, however we need some wreckage and black boxes to confirm that theory. It still hasn't been found.
