Considering getting a rental prop and debating to do Long or short term. Anyone have experience with either that they care to share?

Personally no. Know a chick in Chicago with a big ass house that rents out multiple rooms and that's her full time job and she's happy but she's there as well so little safer.

Renting out something and your not gonna be there could get trashed but they do offer...

ive got 4 condos downtown chicago that I'm now strictly using for airbnb, about 60% occupancy/month, but making a lot more than when I was renting them out.

just dont let'em stay beyond 28 days.. they tend to move in and could squat...

i got sick of doing 2 days here n there.. went for the 1 week to 3 week peeps and was doing $169 a night.. sometimes $239 a night for 1BR condo. It depends on the property..
Set the folks up with the basics, even if you just leave the key in a lock box and they get it upon arrival... theres many ways to do it.. but it can pay.. and you've got Airbnb and their insurance as well as the renters CC# in case of damage/theft. Airbnb's pretty good about hooking you up if theres a prob. Good luck.

I go through a service that uses Airbnb and it has been pretty good. The big issue that I had about doing it myself is if anything goes wrong, I was out of the country so it was hard to do maintenance. They are not used to the place so they break stuff or goof stuff up. Not a huge deal but irritating.

We have rented a few places with them and its smooth. 99% of the places are exactly whats shown in the photos with no bullshit involved.

Works nice.

If your renting out, be careful but for the most part it seems to be decent pornographers like me. hehehehe
