Paul Markham: Write A Book

Paul I am actually being 100% serious here. You have lots to say, and have said a lot, so why not put it all in a book and get it published?

The book could be part memoirs (My Life As a Pornographer) and part How To (Rules For Good Pornography). In fact, I bet you have most of the book written already anyway.

You could simply go through your posts on GFY and cull from them a good foundation for what it is you feel strongly about and want to share with the world. And you could also self-publish it, turn it into an ebook and promote it on a site like Kinky Literature and elsewhere. A few Amazon bucks couldn't hurt either, right?

I'm certain you have great wisdom to impart when it comes to the basics of good pornography, poses, etc. Plus it would be interesting to hear your take on how porn has transitioned into the 21st century.

You should do it!

I know you guys are clowning but if Paul actually decides to 'write' a book, I'd love to GHOSTWRITE it for him. Basically, I interview the old codger, organize his ramblings, transcribe the good bits, whip the raw text into shape and apply nice THEMATIC OVERLAYS to make it a compelling read.

You could even make it a dialogue between the Paul you interview and the Paul who posts here. Paul arguing with Paul as it were.

But seriously, he should do it.

I think it was shortly after New Year's 2013, over on the old Ynot Wizzo encouraged Paul to do it, a multipage thread followed of course.

It pretty much came down to Paul needing gratification. Paul gets high off of all of you.

Will76 made a clever observation, Paul gets banned from all other boards for driving people crazy. He's been banned here twice, for a while Ynot is all he could post to.

People are going to do what they do, if they are happy let them be. I set Paul up with a Wordpress site up for paulmarkham.com, he picked his own theme and wrote those entries all himself and did a decent job of making it look nice, I suggested he use paulmarkham.com instead of pornmemoirs.com because he'd get traffic from all the old links over the years. He gets dozens of visitors a day still, I have the traffic stats (-; he did make several good entries but abandoned it after several months, hard work versus getting a reply after just a couple minutes here and pissing people off.

I've talked to Paul once over Skype and I know what he sounds like, his laugh when he gets going. That laugh is playing in my mind when these threads become absurdly long.

Paul enjoys rabble rousing more than planning a book is my guess, more planning and effort than he's probably willing to put in.

Most authors will package their posts from a blog into an ebook, I think Paul should package his threads (and some posts) on here into an ebook. Refine them of course, but package them up and sell them as 100% truths.

Yes this what I am saying! Paul has already written several books worth of posts right here on GFY let alone other boards. Gather 'em all up and you have a book. If you know Paul you should encourage him to do it.

As Johny says I started it and got bored with the project. Without the motivation to make money and the lack of interaction I lost motivation.

Would it stop me from posting ideas here about ways to make the product more attractive to consumers? No.

Your problem PN is you can't stop yourself from getting involved in threads that have nothing to do with you and lying about how great you are. If you stayed quiet, I wouldn't expose you.

Maybe I could write more here. gfy.com/fucking-around-and-program-discussion/1191923-personal-50-timeline-porn-business.html

I could take stories from the blog Confessions of a pornographer - Stories from my 50 years in porn and post them here.

My problem is motivation, don't need the money not that it would be much. Not going to spend any time working on it. TBH the thread about webmasters does motivate me. People who are clearly webmasters have so much hate to sling and so little constructive posts. And a little bit of delving into their work proves they would be best not getting the exposure.

They will all jump in and tell us how great they are, how many affiliates sign up and how much money they make.

While I go sit in the garden, like most days.

Expose me for being so awesome? Do you want to write an expose? LOL

C'mon Paul, I am being serious here. And you would make some money from it. How much no one could say of course but something. But you don't do it for money, you do it as a legacy. Write down your experiences and history for younger generations of pornographers.

My concern is that once you are butt hurt you can no longer see a serious discussion for what it is. Just because someone disagrees with you (or takes offense when you take shots at their business and success) doesn't mean you have to attempt to bring them down. People can disagree with you AND be knowledgeable and successful. But I suppose that's another issue. LOL

Write that book!

I'm all for people disagreeing with me. Try to do it with constructive alternatives to my proposals. Without telling everyone your numbers are great and I'm penniless, that's Barry's trick. Which is now funny reading the posts on Stripperweb.

No, Paul that government pension check comes every month.
I really don't give a fuck what you make or have.

All I know as I am in business and you are not.

You couldn't sell your business when you wanted to quit because it had no market value -- that I know.

No, the UK Government Pension wire comes once a year. The private pensions come quarterly at different times of the year. The Czech pension comes once a month, it buys the dog's food. You would know this if you knew what I live on.

66 in 3 weeks time and you think I should be working?

Maybe it's you who expect to not be able to retire.

You read my threads faithfully and reply to them with devotion.

I didn't sell my business, because selling the content is more profitable than what stupid deals I was offered by broke idiots. Have you been talking to them?

10.30, thanks for the bumps, I'm off to bed.

I don't give a fuck what your pension pays from the Czech government I just want to know if you get free food (Food Stamps [equivalent]) with it

I have no intention of retiring.
That is how you get demented -- doing nothing productive -- like you do.

Yeah, can't take it Paul? We did this trolling shit all day when I was on construction sites just to pass the time and fuck with people's heads. You picked the wrong guy buddy

Don't have such things here. Is it what you get or the models on Xlovecam need to get by?

Not retiring because you don't earn enough or no life outside tapping on a keyboard?

I have a busy life, dog walking, shopping, watching the football match I recorded last night, while sitting in the garden, cooking the dogs food, cooking a Balti for lunch, afternoon tea with the local wives on maternity leave, then might do some sunbathing. Keep tapping on the keyboard.

Yeah, can't take it Paul? We did this trolling shit all day when I was on construction sites just to pass the time and fuck with people's heads. You picked the wrong guy buddy
If it relieves the boredom of webmastering, I'm pleased to assist you.

Sad to learn you won't be able to enjoy a fuller life away from looking at a computer screen while sitting alone.

I hope to retire like Paul one day. I am serious!! This is in part why I work so damn hard. I figure I have another twenty years or so to rock and roll as hard as I can and see what my efforts bring me.

But if I can end up in the Czech Republic, with a beautiful Czech wife, a cute dog, a little garden and an Internet connection then I would say that's a pretty sweet life.

Hopefully by then I will be writing books myself.

Maybe I could write the book here. Not bothered about writing is a book, blog or anything else.

So long as the idiots keep out I think it would be the best place to share my tales to give webmasters a clue of what it's like to be in the porn business.

It is a pretty sweet life, two dogs, the garden is bit small but not too small, there's a river opposite and fields behind us.

Bit of a change from my plans to retire at 50 and go live on a beach somewhere in the tropics.
