Not that they "WONT", because they could be forced to -- but they "CANT".

Also, this whole thing might be a charade to make people feel more safe, yet the govt. (not local PD tho) would still have access.

It looks as though they we're trying to get around being accused in court of non-cooperation. If they cannot provide decryption it solves the problem because they are not uncooperative. Every now and again, it helps to state the obvious.

They wont decrypt it for the Gov?

What are they really saying??

Wont...
This seems like a strange message to send...
To say they will or wont one would have to assume they CAN, this would call into question the very nature of the security of the device and it's data..

Can't...
This should be the answer as a truly secure device and data set would lock even Apple out of your phone, backups etc... This is not the case... You need only find your itunes backup folder to show this as false... Not to mention the data and crap stored in the phone with regards to what you are doing in the APP data folders.
*it can also be said that nothing is 100% secure*

Don't have to...

"Finally, Cook claims Apple has "never worked with any government agency from any country to create a backdoor in any of our products or services." "We have also never allowed access to our servers. And we never will," "We have also never allowed access to our servers. And we never will," "

Keep in mind -
- No back door was needed to cause 100's of celeb's to have their iCloud accounts and backups hacked.
- There are currently security holes in all IOS devices *and droid etc..*
Nothing is 100% secure... No huge secret there, just knowing a 12 year old can jail break an Iphone, Ipad etc.. shows us this.
- All devices can be unlocked without the security pass code or your finger print.. *eye roll - Just use youtube and have a 9 year old show you how.

So ya... Apple WONT hand the Gov' access .. .. Maybe the NSA should now release a press release saying how they didn't ask Apple to and don't need Apple to.

"Dear Apple,
Thanks but it takes 1 day to jail break new ver. of your ever secure OS by small under funded groups of people. The NSA has funds, has resources and employs some of the best code breakers in the world.
We can do this without your help."

NSA

"PS - Thanks for letting the FB APP take over the phone..."
