News Ukraine rebels seen moving large military convoys

SNIZHNE, Ukraine (AP) ? Associated Press reporters saw more than 80 unmarked military vehicles on the move Saturday in rebel-controlled areas of eastern Ukraine, indicating that intensified hostilities may lie ahead.

Three separate columns were seen ? one near the main separatist stronghold of Donetsk and two outside the town of Snizhne, 80 kilometers (50 miles) further east. The vehicles were mainly transportation trucks, some of them carrying small- and large-caliber artillery systems, and at least one armored personnel carrier. Several of the trucks were seen to be carrying troops.

Ukrainian officials said this week that they believe rebel forces have received substantial consignments of weaponry and manpower from Russia. Moscow denies such claims.

It was not immediately possible to establish the provenance of the vehicles seen Saturday. Separatists have always insisted they are armed with equipment captured from Ukrainian forces, but the sheer scale and quality of their armaments have strained the credibility of that claim.

Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council spokesman Volodymyr Polevoy said rebel reinforcements have also been observed moving toward front-line locations around 150 kilometers (95 miles) northeast of Donetsk, in the Luhansk region.

Polevoy said rebel authorities are boosting their ranks by forcibly mobilizing residents in a number of occupied towns.

Yes, they did. There's only one way for those two "republics" and that's joining Russia. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but it's going to happen. And the Russians paid the price - 25% drop in the ruble's value since the beginning of the year, although that's not all due to the Ukraine crisis of course.

No one thinks it's over.. It's been reported all along that there is still fighting going on and it was reported on Thursday that 32 Russian tanks had crossed the boarder and there were 400 more "near" the boarder..


Sorry but "you" have to look past the front page if you want news. Don't expect everything to be spoon fed to you in bright red breaking hews headlines..

I never claimed it was true or false. I was just showing, that news from the conflict was still being widely reported. It just doesn't make "front page" because there is no reason for it to be front page being it's just random fighting at this point and he said she said accusations.

Granted if there was proof the tanks had crossed and were actively in combat, then sure it would be front page news again..

With that said NATO has confirmed that Russia is once again building g up an invasion force and the 400 tanks came from NATO.

now please learn about Europe's history (lets say, from XVII century), history of Ukraine..you may even compare it with history of modern Germany.

Don't know who colonel Slanders is, but personally I in a big plus of this situation. That's not a secret that I earn in USD and Euros. So when I'm converting them into rubles, I'm in a big profit
