If the problem is that you "spam and ban" or something like that, why would I want to get my ip involved to that?
If not spamming, etc. there should be no problem. I have 4 tumblr accounts (all different niche) and no problems, at least so far. But maybe you are talking about dozens blogs.

Tumblr will have an issue with registering multiple accounts from one IP - The sites are always hosted on the same Tumblr IP's however - I don't see your plan will affect SEO?..
What am I missing?....
