GFY Educational Series: The secrets behind a successful porn production in Latin America

One of our favorite sections of the GFY are the Educational Series. I take long hours reading carefully and thinking about what my partners have published. By doing that I have identified hathe great opportunities that arise when people in the business share their knowledge. Today I have the pleasure to share with you, some of my experience in the production of adult content in Latin America, I hope you can enjoy it.

Here in Colombia, we produce our own content and the content that we sell to foreign customers. That means that the ideas that we share with you today, can be useful to anyone who wants to produce in South America. I can not speak about how is it to produce in US or in Europe because, I have not produced yet in those places.

Lets take a short view to some of the basic elements in the development of a production:

Stage One: Pre-Production

It is mandatory to take care of the pre-production in order to have a nice final product that meets with the high quality standards that we all in the business are looking for. We have to follow a few steps to have a great pre-production.

First Step - The Casting. As you may know there are a lot of huge differences between Colombia and US. Here we have to deal with actress that hahave minimal experience in shooting adult content. Colombia´s women are not professional actress, they usually ask for extra money in the middle of the production and they also lie to their husbands about what they do.

WOMEN: The first question that we receive from women that are going to film with us is: Is the content going to be shown in Colombia?. With the experience we understand that being honest with the girls can save you a lot of problems and it also enabling you to retain good actress for future productions. Our answer for the girls is that because of the Internet the content that we make is going to be watched all around the globe, including Colombia.

As a producer you should never start a new project with a girl without having the time to meet her first. Even a short conversation with the actress using Skype or a face-to-face date is enough. We have to understand that the producers also perform as a psychologist, and they do so by detecting how problematic would it be to work with a person, only by exchanging some words with her. We like to do some of the following questions in this scenario:

1. What drives you to enter to the porn business? Do you understand that the content is gonna be seen by everybody?
2. Are you making porn because you want hato start a career in the business or just because you need some extra money?
3. What are you limitations in bed? What kind of things do you dislike?
4. How many money do you think an porn actress earns?
5. Can you show me the documents (Eg..ID) that certifies that you are under the legal age?
6. When is your menstrual period? (Very important? I think)

By answering those simple questions it is impossible to have a surprise during the production. Lets think for example, how many money do you lose if your are ready in the location and the girl arrives without legal documents or maybe she does not show. It is important to make of every project a safe and clean work.

MEN: A hardcore scene needs a man and a women. You can make a lot of good movies by having only one good actor. With my years of experience I can say that having a good actor is one of the most important asset for a porn company. So, how do you do to find the perfect guy?

Physical Appearance: There must be a magic between the actor and the actresses. If you find a very good looking man it will be easier for the girls to work with him. I usually like to say to my actor that he must flirts with the girls first, by saying lovely thing in her ears. He also needs to be a kind and treats girls with respect. If you identify that there is a problematic relationship between the staff, hait is likely that it will represent a problem in the future.

First trial: You should avoid to make the first scene with a new guy in a difficult project. In my experience 100% of the actors do a terrible performance in their first trial. What we like to do to overcome this problem is something that we like to call ?Sex Academy?. It is a training camp where we put 10 men with one of our best actress. A good actor is able to have sex with the girl without feeling afraid of being watched by the others. Remember?. finding a good actor worth a lot of money.

Second Step - Location. We recommend you to take one day off just to visit the possible locations before starting a new production. Be sure that the place that you are going to use has a good source of natural light. I am not sure if there something more useful as the daylight to obtain perfect colors. You should remember that you must be honest with the owners of the location by telling them first what you are going to do (porn), this helps you to build a nice relationship with them. Here in Latin America it is not as usual to do porn as in US, so if someone finds that you are making it behind their back, they immediately call the police. Take the time to know the owners of every location, this safe you a lot of problems. I finally recommend you to be sure about hathe security of the place (for example by having someone else outside watching what happen), there some particular locations where this advice can save you a lot of problems (and money)

Third Step - Legal Issues. Be sure of having at least two copies of legal documents (2257): One in english and the other in spanish. You should also need to record in camera the moment when the actors sign the contract. Then take a picture or video to the papers, to be sure that if you miss them you wont have any problem. Review the legal documents that certifies that the actresses are under the legal age to work. And last but not least, record the exact moment when you pay to your staff and asking them if they are agree with the work (specially ask the girl about how they have been treated during the scene)

Stage Two: Production

1. You need to start early in the day (7 or 8 am) this is a gold rule in order to have a good day of work. In the morning the people have had time to rest, there is good illumination and you have extra time for the problems
2. Extra batteries: It is mandatory to have a lot of new batteries and to charge all the recording devices the night before. It is not professional to do this in the middle of a production. Memory cards and doing a triple backup of the production is important, the video you get is your most valued treasure.
3. You should always have some ?Viagra? on your pockets, your actors would need a little help. This simple pill can save you the day.
4. Water: You must need to have a lot of water (only water) to offer to your actors and actress in the working time. You should treat your staff like real sport people, Michael Jordan did not take Coke during a game.
5. Bring with you a video to show the actors what you are planning to do. You can save some time if you present the video to them when you are setting up the lights
6. Motivation is the key: it is important to give all kind of motivation to your team, you can use extra money if you are satisfied with the work they did. Even a motivational word can improve the working environment.
7. You need someone that help you. Try not to be alone in the set, you will need someone to be watching what is happening around ha

Now take a look of the steps during the normal production, every one of them need to be completed sequentially and carefully

1. Signing the contracts and taking care of the legal issues
2. Making up and dressing the staff (you should have sent the photos of the outfit to you client before the shoot)
3. Outdoor shooting or pick up. Be sure not to film the faces of the other people around that did not sign a contract and never shoot commercial brands. Be careful with nudes on public.
4. Photos of the actress in the location (alone)
5. Photos until the blowjob
6. Video inside the location until there is a blowjob
7. Photos and video of the different sex positions (very important to explain to the model 4 o 5 basic positions that you will need)
8. Set the rules of how and where is going to be the CumShoot and then do the video and the photos
9. The final video where you ask the actress and the actor how they feel

Well my friends, this is how we work in Latin America, there are not rules just simple steps that you may use if you are starting as a producer in the business. We take our company and our work very seriously. In a future I will tell you how to do and how to think strategically about the different production issues (Eg? working team) I hope you have enjoyed.
