US gambling industry better organized than porn/sex work? Gambling lobby letter about Loretta Lynch

Interesting article about the American Gaming Association writing the Senate Judiciary Committee about Department of Justice nominee Loretta Lynch

Quote:
To sway Lynch towards supporting greater regulation of the gambling industry in the US, Freeman pointed out the 1.7 million people are employed by gambling operators. Moreover, the industry is currently worth around $240 billion each year which represents a major source of tax revenue for both state and federal governments.

After highlighting the positives associated with regulated gambling, Freeman goes on to point out the negative effects the illegal betting sub culture that, according to Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), is responsible for billions in lost tax dollars every year.
It would be neat if there were a way to compare the porn industry and legal sex work in jobs or economic data and an organized demand for similar protections/respect from lawmakers as gaming operators have done.

So you think they're preparing the way for legal online gambling like in New Jersey?
