This is mind blowing, the 10th president of the United States, John Tyler born in 1790, president between 1841-45, 20 years BEFORE the Civil War STILL has TWO living grandchildren!

When you think of somebody who is 100 today, when they were born in 1915, there were people on this earth who were 100, born in 1815, and when those people were born there were people on this earth who were 100, born in 1715 - long before there was a Unites States. To get back to 1715 you only need to go through 3 people.

Close, but you're forgetting the years they grow up before having their own baby.

You need to shave 15-30 years off for each generation. That can set you back almost 100 years.
