Is an adult site even worth it anymore?
Back in 2011 - 2012 I built and ran an adult affiliate site. After having had the site up for 4 - 5 months, it received around 1,000 unique visits and 20,000 page views daily, steadily. Unfortunately I took the site down in 2013. The site aggregated photos from 20 different adult sponsors and so it was quite large.
About 70% of my traffic came from Google. I had many pages come up #1 or at least very high on Google as I had a lot of fairly unique, hard to find galleries that many other sites did not have. As far as backlinks, these came from links within forum posts and then from link trades. The link trades I made were always ABC with other sites (I linked to their site, and another site owned by them linked to mine). I also partook in guest posting. I would guest post gallery update links on third party sites, and I would also allow other sites to guest post on mine. All of this wasn't terribly difficult to put in place, and as you can see, it worked fairly well. Today, Google has Penguin and Hummingbird in place, and so I understand the SEO game has changed significantly. So, I'm wondering: How well will the above strategy work today? If I were to rebuild this site, would I have to implement a significant change in my strategy? |

It wont work anymore what you did back then was called "link wheels" what google is looking for now is good quality content on your site or sites. If the content is good then it will get shared and liked giving your site somewhat of a viral effect thus giving you traffic. Social engagement(comments on your site) plays a part with your website as well. I found a link that I think you might be interested in reading:

The most effective techniques that are used in SEO today are PBN's and social signals. Social signals can be bought on Fiverr although they're not always of the highest quality and there are lots of courses out there on PBN's, but once you get started it really is pretty straightforward. The most important metric that people look at when building PBN's is trust flow or TF (Majestic.com).
I've just built my first adult website and wondered if anyone out there is offering any link packages with decent TF and social signal packages, if so please hit me up. |

Iv had an adult site for around a year and if you want an honest answer its no. Iv only stuck with it because of the time and effort iv put in. If i was able to back, i would have put 100% focus on learning to build and rank affiliate sites. much easier way to make money than this

Nothing much has changed, if you have good and exclusive content they will come.
![]() If you have the same shit every tube site runs for free then of course there is no business. Content was and is king !! Just look at sites like Lesbea, iFellmyslef, Metart etc... These guys drive Maseratis and live in mansions I am sure. Can you add 50,000 members with $ 20 / month in membership fees? ... And Kink? As big as all of the listed ones put together and then some. The next thing you need is a good geeks to run your site, the only reason I have no Maserati.... But hey A8 is not bad either.... If I had a good geeks, they as well as I, would be in Maseratis. |

I'm doing something similar to what you did. I have a blog style/fetish site with around 20 articles and lots of sexy pics. It's been a year and a half and it's up to 600 uv with 15,000 page views.
This is with NO backlinks but tons of thorough keyword research. I got scared off with all the BL strategies going down the drain. It takes longer without the backlinks but it's still doable. I think a few high PR links are the way to go now, but that's just my take. Hope that helps! |

Guess I'm one of the few. I have a subscription based website with exclusive content, and affiliate program. Make enough to work from home and pay my mortgage / bills.
Anything is worth it of you work hard enough at it. |
