Godaddy Domain Pricing Change
So I was just going to advance renew some domains with Godaddy and try new coupon code out. Coupon code didn't work and the price for renewals seems inconsistent.
I have 3 .com domains. One expires in April, one in July and one in August. Here is the price of renewal: April: $12.24 July: $10.81 August: $14.99 Does anyone know the reasoning behind the pricing? Other than just fucking people over or to make money. Does anyone know how they price 3 .com domains renewing and charging different rates for them? |

Evidently after trying 6 different codes in my cart it triggered Godaddy's system to have a rep call my phone. So off the mark!

No clue, I'm in their club so $8.47 whether I do 1 or 500 in one shot. If ya don't have enough domains to make their club worth it I'd either move them out or find a friend in the club that ya trust and push em over and have them renew them all for 1-2 years and then push them back to ya.

NameSilo is a good company, consistent pricing, easy to navigate, I like them
![]() Two good things I like about GoDaddy is they make it pretty smooth and easy to transfer domains from them and basically there is no wait time, takes about a hour and a few clicks the transaction is complete, second thing with GD is if you find a good coupon the first year is pretty cheap, a buck or two, as far as renewing through them they are pretty steep. Now NameCheap that is a whole different story they want to make the whole transfer process confusing and make you wait the full time before they let the domain go.

fuck godaddy! I only use it to reg cheap, than transferring out on the first possible day. Renewals are shitty, no promo code since long time ago [changed renewal concept, now they want you to join their fucking discount club to have REASONABLE renewal prices]
I am happy with namecheap, got familiar with their new interface which I hated in the beginning. Good Luck with transferring out ur stuff from this hellhole! ![]()

Some of you people here on GFY crack me the fuck up! ![]() ![]() Me: Drop my renewals into shopping cart. Me: Call my rep; Me: "Can you modify the pricing?" Rep: "Sure, Brad, they're discounted now." Me; "Thanks..." Less than 30 seconds every time.

I think I've got like 3 domains still registered with them, going to transfer them as well soon.

Any domain name host that has multiple postings under a 'Controversies' section on Wiki is likely something to be skeptical of. One of the biggest issues I have with GoDaddy is their scumbag tactic of registering domain names users dropped from a cart for 48 hours to attempt to extort them out of money. https://www.namepros.com/threads/war...odaddy.831192/ Disgusting business practice that is absolutely not in good faith. As I said, thugs. Cockroaches that I'd have no issue stamping on if given half the chance. |

Weird. I went to Godaddy and looked up godaddy.xxx randomly while looking up other domains, the response you get is different than any other .xxx domain, registered or available.

I would prefer to do business with the largest and most well known company in the industry in which is godaddy, and it was only a matter of time before they moved out of the deep discount domain game. Godaddy would lose money or break even just to gain you as a new customer or keep you as a loyal customer. In the hope you would use their other services.
I usually register 100 at a time so even with their increases and without calling my rep I still got a price of under $9 each. If your domain can't make that fee a year you fail as a webmaster. ![]() |

Another note about the whole domain register business, it definitely needs regulation. It's still the wild wild west when it comes to the rest of the internet. People can still steal your domains whether it be a register by spite or error or by a criminal hacker fraudster. and the crazy thing is they can be lost forever. Kind of scary if you build a brand or business around a domain and you can lose it all.
ICANN is so worried about these new extensions which are so niche that only a handful of terms work with them. They should be more worried about making regulations that registers need to follow, and need to be held accountable for their actions. |
