Does Tsarnaev deserve the death penalty?

Does he deserve to die for what he did?

Boston bomber expresses remorse as defence rests its case

Quote:
Forty witnesses testified for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, including anti-death penalty advocate Sister Helen Prejean.

She testified on Monday that Tsarnaev told her of the bombing victims: "No one deserves to suffer like they did."

The April 2013 bombings killed three people and injured more than 260.

Tsarnaev has expressed genuine regret and sorrow over the bombings, Sister Prejean said.

Prosecutors pushed to exclude her testimony, but a judge decided to allow it.

Over the years I have become skeptical of the fairness of the death penalty due to the large number of cases of people on death row who were later proven to not be guilty of the original charges by DNA evidence, recanted testimony, confessions by third parties and other circumstances. However, that being said, if there is a death penalty law in effect as there is in this case, a terrorist who plants a bomb on a crowded city street to kill and maim civilians and who is guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt via video evidence and a confession has to be one of the most deserving perpetrators.

Well he already confessed, so there is no doubt. However his lawyers are putting all the blame/planning/persuasion on his (dead) brother.

he deserves the death penalty but i think the wishes of the survivor's families are important- that he should not be executed.

and his remorse? bullfuckingshit. he's a piece of shit anti-american that was given all the opportunities to become a contributing member of society.

re: the trial, i am appalled at the prosecution's need to drag the surivors and the dead folk's families through remembering the horrific details of that day. completely uncalled for.

The families are asking for him not to be executed? First time I hear that.

i'm pretty sure money spent had zero to do with their reason behind it... If anything they are just decent human beings and don't want to see people die for any reason.

I used to believe in the death penalty. "You kill someone, we kill you back". Eye for an eye. But these days I think that is an easy way out. I want them to be punished, not just forgotten. I want this young man to have his asshole violated three times a day by a man much larger than him. That's proper punishment.

I strongly believe that all who use violence to achieve political goals should be put to death...whether they wear a uniform or not

No one deserves the death penalty when the determining factor is whether or not you can afford a great attorney.

His goal was to kill other people so I think he should be treated in the same way. Imagine that he killed your daughter, sister, wife.....Idea that he is still alive ,breathing somewhere seems like a bad idea (and that you are paying for his food). But, when dealing with muslim terrorists , I guess ordinary death penalty is not good enough. Before killing him, he should eat pork, be gay raped in cell, and finally ,burried in some way that will guarantee that he won't go to Allah. Not sure what sick ideas they have but I am sure someone will know what is a "sin" for them.

His prison sentence will cost tax payers between $50K and $100K p/year for the rest of his life, and that number will probably go up over time. Charles Manson for example, is now in his 80's.

I think everyone wins if they just kill him... taxpayers don't have to foot the bill, the families get REAL closure, and even HE wins, in that death HAS to be better than rotting alone in a box.

I wish it were faster to kill people. Killers do not give a fuck because they still have 15 years to live so either way it's not like a big deal as it should be.
When they have 100% proof and it is something bad enough like this just do the appeal and put them to death already. Get it over with.

There should be one island, somewhere remote, thousand mile from land. On that Island, all countries should have right to drop worst criminals. If they manage to survive , let them live. If they die in process, that is fine too. Cheap parachutes, flight in one direction for crimilans ,countries should cover expenses for making that zone unavailable to anyone. One satelitte to watch it, and regular checks by military ships or submarines. Problems solved, they don't have a chance to escape and if they try, cruise missle should be randomly sent to their island.
