mexican strats are made a lot better than the japanese ones i'm sure. I have one and it barely stays in tune heh. probably just the mechanics though.

the MIJ strats used to be the unbelievably well-made ones, and i had a really good one a while back, but i've heard not so good things about recent ones from there. had a MIA highway one strat that i recently sold, it was solid but fragile with the nitrocellular lacquer they used on them at the time. |

i can't get that pic to load for some reason...... i like the texas special pickups and SRV, but i was reading an interview of his guitar tech from way back when and he claimed Stevie preferred low-output pups, under wound, etc. he said that was the key. i was surprised to read that, and those texas specials are hot winds! |

The Vintage Noiseless pickups to me have the best tone hands down. Tone thick as concrete. |

i hear ya, alnico 2 magnets on the vintage noiseless, as you know already, they are so much better sounding than the Alnico 5s, imo.

i think i've decided that the stratocaster body is a work of art. it should be in the museum of modern art!

Here is what I did: I wanted to combine blackmores '74 natural body/maple neck with a malmsteen style scalloped neck. I went with 1/4 sawn birds eye neck, 22 frets, hand scalloped, medium tint, nitro finish. Abalone inlays. The body has perfect matching grain. I had them put poly on the body & a countoured heel. I went with the s1 switching with paul gilbert injector pickups. It was around $8500 but I said F' it. The buggest pain in the ass was the 18 month wait. Jason Smith did the build. Ds

I am a Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul, my first real guitar I got for my birthday was a 1970 72 can't remember Fender strat and didn't like it because it didn't look kool to me at the time and traded it for a broken down Kramer. God I still kick myself in the ass for that.

![]() but nevertheless, a shit ton of killer rock and roll was cranked out on 70s strats right? lots and lots of classic rock, as we all know. and tbh, i'm still wrapping my ears around these pickups on this 70s rig, they are measured output @ ~6k, easily the weakest pickups of any guitar i've owned. |
