Why? Do you think it's because of the .xyz investors promoting it somehow or is there a real benefit for it?
So far I've never seen a .xyz tld.

Maybe there was some prior knowledge or speculation that google would use the abc.xyz domain.
Personally, I never considered buying a .xyz even though I bought other extensions. |

We thought XYZ was a great domain TLD for our metrics and demographics analysis domain, though we don't have it publicly offered -- just thought the TLD "fit".

While it may look that way they stuffed some 400k xyz domains into netsol accounts without people requesting them and at a lot of registrars you can get them for a buck.

Could be because Network Solutions was automatically adding matching .xyz domains to customers' .coms with an opt-out clause.

I think it's because it's the cheapest of all the new extensions which range anywhere from $27.99 to $100 each.
The popularity of .xyz only shows that people want cheap shit.
