As far as i understand there're 2 business models: MFC/Chaturbate/Cam4 model and Jasmin/Streamate etc. The first one is based on getting as much popularity as possible (as many ppl as possible) so they top their tokens for the show. The other one is just pay as you go thing.

All the cam sites are pretty much the same in those groups, they only differ by models as individuals and geo groups. Some sites get more traffic, some lesser.

What are the other major differences between cam sites?

The sites are not clearly divided in the 2 groups you said. In fact Streamate now allows nudity in free chat, this was not allowed until a few years ago. Also the free chat sites can be used in old way, so the girl it is always clothed, and only way to see her naked is to take in private.

Note: Stremate allow nudity in free chat if someone tipped for it... I'm getting model banned for 72hours every month cause they did nudity for totally free.

its customers vs # of models online...this is the difference for all sites....I do not know if you are interested as a studio or as an affiliate but you should try promoting them all IMO...

you may do well with jasmin for example as an affiliate but it may suck for YOUR models but work for some others...you must try everything

This, and also the way the models are ranked in top or bottom of list, see camscore in mfc, being in first page or page 20 is quite different.

After working with a number of women who have tested every cam site imaginable.. there are considerable differences. Streamate's admin & traffic are simply superior. Support for models however is terrible. Honestly, Streamate's admin is better ( more intuitive ) and "cleaner" than GoToMeeting.

MFC - The whole thing looks like MySpace circa 2004. That said, the ladies make good money because the traffic is there. And as with Streamate their support for models is horrible.

Every other system tested was a distant 3rd in the opinion of the models. And their checks would support that.

You already stated the major differences yourself, there are 2 groups of sites I would agree.

I would add that as a mainly fetish girl I wouldn't touch MFC, and fetish/niche is where the $$ is for me as a model. It is more 1-on-1 personalized shows and that works well for me. There are gold shows on SM (I don't do them) but that is more group/MFC style but overall it's privates.

Not sure how that translates for you as an affiliate, but hope this helps.

Yes I believe there's no other cam site with customisable apps.

Something else which I am unsure if anyone else got, it is the option of model to promote any member as "administrator" for her room. This apparently is the ultimate way to save on administration workforce. Just some of those member-admins tend to ban everyone for just anything, perhaps the models would have banned the same, but lazy rule of energy saving makes her prefer appoint someone else to do it.

I would note the trend it is with apps to crowd-source coding (user-generated apps), with members promoted to admin by model you crowd-source site employee (user-generated monitoring), and the content it is also user-generated (cam streams). If you think at tips based sites, this is a crowd-sourced show: rather than a producer to pay performers to make a show, then trying to sell it to final users... the users pay in advance tips in order to have the performers make a show, this is like kickstarter. More than this there could be crowd-funded cam studios: a girl with not even cam and pc (missing equipment), will upload photos of herself, saying she wish to become a cam girl: she then will ask users to fund total i.e. $1000 to buy equipment. Then when reached, she starts to go online as a cam girl. Even further, someone without a cam site and without cam girls, could put online photos of girls, saying: if we reach $X, I will setup a cam site, buy equipment for these girls, then you can tip them to see their shows - further you can be the administrators and help writing the code and apps.

This is true too, most models are in 3 to 8 sites at the same time with splitcam. In fact guys tip in site 1, and people who did not tipped in site 2, 3, 4 will see the show too, at expense of site 1

beside the info everybody added above,
for studios and models, there are big differences between the cam sites in terms of customer typology, demography and in terms of what type of shows brings more $ for a model.
Also, some model type can earn better on one cam site and other type of model can make more $ on other cam site. (and I am not talking about 1 time thing - but regularly)

for members, there are big differences between the cam sites in terms of: the typology of models he finds/search for, the "feeling" he has using that system : some cam sites are like "social" network, others just sell quick adult live sex time, others focus on diversity of the offer(the models).

some cam sites decided one type of communication and promotion strategy (including offline brand awareness) , others decided to fully push on online marketing and affiliation program.

I am an affiliate and from my perspective there are just two type of cam sites the ones that makes you money and the ones that doesn't, I was working with a white label of streamate, but I have heard so many good things about chaturbate that I will give them a try.
