Bitcoin Payments 5% of Porn.com Sales

Quote:
Bitcoin currently accounts for roughly 5% of all sales at Porn.com, the adult entertainment company that began accepting bitcoin as payment in January 2014.

The findings come roughly one year after Porn.com began accepting bitcoin and as part of an interview with CoinDesk centered on the anniversary.

Porn.com declined to disclose the total sales completed in bitcoin, though vice president Phil Bradbury described these earnings as ?substantial?. Notably, the 5% figure is down from the 10% estimate the company reported in February 2014.

Still, Bradbury called bitcoin a ?great addition? to the website, one that he said has paid off in unexpected ways
Bitcoin Payments Still Power 5% of Porn.com Sales

There was a thread about this toward the end of last year. Earnings via bitcoin. It was pretty low. $174 for 30 days rings a bell. Sales were posted or leaked. Sales are sales I guess.

Earnings per sale would be more interesting, with no rebills 5% of earnings via bitcoin could be 10% of earnings if paid by credit card

Wouldn't be surprised if the 5% figure is made up.

It's free advertising for porn.com with the bitcoin users as long as they give a quote. Say something like sales are 5% bitcoins and they all get worked into a frenzy and start sharing it all over the web.

We have accepted Bitcoin for over two years - it's nowhere near 5% for us more like 1%, but we agree with Porn.com the only way is up as it is the perfect payment system for adult.

I kind of wonder why webmasters who own sleepy/drunk or other content that gets censored by CC companies don't give it a try. OK, I have read that there only are a few 100k coin users worldwide but slapping up a site with existing content isn't much work also.

That being said - that 5% figure is made up for sure, it's just to make BS press releases like this and get the name out. Free advertising on coindesk - I bet coindesk knows it's made up too but thier goal is to hype bitcoin and crypto.

I can add BTC option for billing in our tube script in about 2 hours, do a big announcement thread to "hype up" our software but at the end of the day I know it's not going to make anyone money.

Is profitable to sell videos for Bitcoins (Pay-Per-Download) ? How many users use Bitcoins ?

I have licensed content and want to make on my website payment form similar like on that website -

porn4crypto.info/hot-amateur-girl-rylie-striptease-video/ (bottom of page)

I think they use Wordpress Bitcoin Gateway -

wordpress.org/plugins/gourl-bitcoin-payment-gateway-paid-downloads-membership/

Bitcoin is actually not very popular. but credit card takes 60 year to grow up.
I think Bitcoin is the future and now is the right moment to start.

Checkout how popular is in the gaming industry.
There is Bitcoin not just an alternative payment method. There are many Bitcoin Only Casino.

in my opinion the next big thing are "Bitcoin-Only" adult sides like Bitcoin Only VoD or Cam portals.

Also perfect to payout worldwide the affiliate commission.

Just to update, at our cam sites we have less bitcoin sales in 2015 than in 2014. It seems getting less popular, not more popular...

You did not used google for: tubecamgirl bitcoin. We posted in all the bitcoin forums and got replies and answered these. In fact the first sales came after such promotion, then not much more later.

I think that 5% number is a bit high from my experience with bitcoin.
When we ran some tests, it is well under .03 % and most of those failed via our bitcoin processor.

I know that there are so many bitcoin owner out there which doesn't know where they can spend there bitcoin.

If you go to Gaming or File Share Sides there are so many explanations for the user how they can pay with bitcoin.

But there is nothing like this in the adult biz.

And on most of the pages the customer doesn't see with which payment method they can pay.

Also there is no Bitcoin Adult Directory where the existing Adult pages can promote there offer.

I don't need to depend on a mastercard, visa, or SEPA forum for my customers to understand how and where to spend their money -- get it?

When, and if, more people use these digital currencies then they will know how and where to spend them -- this is a classic ''chicken or the egg'' conundrum .

Yes I think filelockers, filesharing (mostly pirate hosting) it is getting a nice % of sales from bitcoin. Reason is, these sites hardly can keep processing credit cards and it's users may be young geeks often.

Who buys porn is 30+ years old and only rarely geek. With cams we see most of sales are in ages 40-50 and that's people rarely into hi-tech (they will ask how to setup own cam or very easy questions).

Yes. it is an chicken egg problem.

But the other problem is that american merchants often think that the whole world only will pay with credit card.

They don't accept that most of the word don't have credit card.
Explain to an american how Direct debit works in Europe and that this is the most usefully payment option in Germany.

There are so many other regions on the world without an working banking system but with an working internet infrastructure.

Look to Asia or Africa. They use Bitcoin but they don't have credit card or something similar.

I am with you. And Greeks find Porn for free.

It is a little bit complicated to explain how you setup a wallet, buy some bitcoin and spend it on a porn side.

But...what is with the millions of people who don't want to send there personal data or credit card details to an service which they not trust?

I think there are so many people outside which need to pay for Cam side or niche content but they want to be anonymous.

Or my personal details and credit card are hacked like on Ashley Madison.

With Bitcoin nothing is on my credit card statement. no one must know my identity, my credit card details or my email address.

I think that there are so many potential user outside which need to pay when it is absolute secret for them.

And also don't forget the user which don't have a Credit card. in some regions it is easier to get bitcoin as an credit card.

good for those who bought them early for pennies, not so good for those that believed in the hype and bought them for $1000

I don't buy the Asia or Africa argument, for the near seeable future at least, people in Asia and Africa that can afford 1st world prices have access to credit cards. Because these relatively poor 3rd world masses (by western standards), these newer 3rd world Internet users, can afford a WAP, smartphone, or tablet does not automatically make them porn paysite, camsite, or dating site paid in buyers. I hope in the next 10 or 20 years their economies will prosper and at that point they will have more disposable income.

The internal mainstream ecommerce (within the national borders and currency) may be more able to utilize digital currencies but with a much, much lower unit value as 10 bitcoins might be 3 years income to these people you are suggesting to target. These target people are not hi-tech geeks or rocket scientists -- they are newcomers to the digital age with simplistic needs.

They have already learned how to fap for free on the Internet anyway -- they don't have a lot of disposable income.

Very interesting arguments against Bitcoin. But where is the problem to check it out.
It is a very easy integration: doc.coinsnap.eu and offer it as an alternative method and the user can decided.

Also ask your Affiliate if they are interested to receive the Affiliate Commission by bitcoin.

Still marginal at shopmaker

We implemented Bitcoins half a year ago, simply because integration was easy (with coinsnap) and we wanted to offer customers another anonymous payment method. All shops at shopmaker.com now have this payment option.

However, revenues via Bitcoin are negligible, but with a slow upward trend. Very slow If it picks up, great. If not, we did no invest much (time).

Our most important anonymous payment method still is paysafecard. With solid sales. Unfortunately it is still mainly available in Europe.

But obviously most customers do not care about anonymity. Credit cards are dominant.
