what you are completely failing to realize is the other candidates are polished career politicians who have gleaned their ability to debate over years and years, yet Trump held his own amongst them.

crockett, you are missing my point.

You could switch "Bush" for "Trump" or "Rubio" for "Trump" or any of the candidates in the "debate" and your statement above would still hold true.

But only Trump is held to this double standard.

This is why he had more to prove.. His job wasn't to win over his base which already likes him. His job was to win over support from people on the fence or who don't think he has experance with politics..

He already has won his base support, he needed to stand out with details about how he plans to do things.. Now just skate by with cookie cutter answers..

Those answers are far from "cookie cutter". It's the other candidates who have the cookie cutter answers given to them by their staff and culled from research about what people want to hear.

Those answers that Trump is giving are the very reason that people like him. Because they are NOT "cookie cutter" politician double talk.

I have to say crockett, that you can't even allow yourself to see that is just amazing. I don't think you can even see just how biased you really are.

You're never going to vote for Trump. Neither am I.

But the difference is...I am smart enough to see WHY people are drawn to him.
And all you can do is keep on attacking with partisan bias.

People are just sick and fucking tired of being lied to. And look what all these "experienced" politicians have done to our country over the last 60 years or so.

Those politicians are nothing special. They aren't the smartest. They aren't the brightest. There is no mystery to running the govt.

What every politician we have in office is, is a bureaucrat who found a gravy train. And people are sick and tired of feeling fucked by the system.
That's why Trump is popular. People feel that he doesn't have to answer to the party bosses.

Why do you think that Fox News (whom you HATE) and the Koch Brothers (whom you HATE) are so against Trump?
Because of their genuine concern for the country? (which you have stated over and over that they have none)

Hell no crockett. It's because they can't control him.

And as a liberal person...that should make you cheer for what he's doing.
He's shaking the foundation of the 2 party system.

Instead...you just do the usual "team sport" song and dance. Come on man! You claim to be "progressive" right?
Then stop living in the past with the old Democrat/Republican fantasyland.

Not True.. For instance I was suprised Bush came out against tje Iraq war. I was also suprised he came out about not being in favor of ending common core like almost every other candidate is.

Granted I don't keep up with Huckabee, but I was suprised he stood by and went against the grain on entitlements..

I had hoped for more out of Rand Paul but he seemed to fizzle out and he ends any chances with me over the common core support.

Trump was not held to any double standard.. It's what people expect of him. He has zero political experance and has yet to show how he will translate his business experance into political.

I mean Jesus Christ he couldn't answer any serious question which was directed at him.. When asked what he got for his money when he gives to candidates.. His big answer was Hillary came to his wedding..

How the hell is Bush saying he was against the Iraq war "specific" about anything?

Trump has also said what he wants to do. And in the debate Trump pointed out that he was on record as saying that the war was wrong and was going to be bad for our country for decades to come.

So Bush is "specific" when he backpedals an answer he gave on Fox News a few weeks ago...and Trump is not when he clearly said that he was against the war from the beginning and still thinks it's a disaster and even told Jeb that his brother's presidency was a disaster.

Jesus crockett...what does Trump have to do to get you to see that he's being discriminated against.

you only need look at the opening salvo- raise your hand if you plan to run independent... that set the anti-Trump tone right there. kudos to the crowd for maintaining and not booing Trump when he had the nutsack to back up his comments.

Asking Bush if he was against the war was a very personally directed and loaded question.. Yet he answered it.

When Trump was asked personally directed questions, he dodged them..

That's what I'm saying.. Trump is like watching a movie with no plot and just big explosions.. Take away the big explosions and there is nothing..

Okay, here's the first poll results I have seen. Just in from Time.Com So far Trump is destroying the competition. As I said crockett, that you can't see WHY he's winning is amazing to me:

The 10 leading Republican presidential candidates took the stage for their first debate Thursday night. Who do you think won?
Donald Trump
(7114 Votes)
33%
Jeb Bush
(1647 Votes)
8%
Ben Carson
(2920 Votes)
14%
Chris Christie
(846 Votes)
4%
Ted Cruz
(1039 Votes)
5%
Mike Huckabee
(778 Votes)
4%
John Kasich
(2893 Votes)
13%
Rand Paul
(1213 Votes)
6%
Marco Rubio
(2671 Votes)
12%
Scott Walker
(351 Votes)

That was the impression I got too. Plus also, the first question they asked to make Trump look like a party pooper re third party run. That was jacked

Anyway, what he said about political correctness definitely was refreshing.

He is winning because he's the anti establishment guy and Republicans are on the anti govt binge..

So let's look at the "one" thing he gave any sort of details about.. That's healthcare.. When pressed he claims he's no longer for a single payer system. Instead his grand idea was to erase the imaginary lines (state lines) and let insurance companies compete across the board instead of at the state level..

Meaning his idea is to keep Obamacare as is and just change the way insurance companies come up with their prices. Making it a national exchange vs state exchanges..

So all you anti Obamacare guys are sure to get a piece of the new and improved Trumpcare..

That was his one and only bit of detail into how he would do anything other than say I'm Donnald Trump..

I listened to the debate on Fox radio. Immediately after they went to the "spin room" for analysis. The first thing a female commenter said was how appalled she was with Trumps arrogant behavior. At that point I shut it off.

Yep...and no matter how hard they tried to fuck him in the "debate" (that first non-question with the hand raising was just outlandish), and no matter how hard they "analyze" him with talking heads trying to tell us what we just watched... He STILL is clearly winning the debate amongst viewers (at least according to the after-debate polls)

This is interesting.

Crockett is against the only guy in the race who is NOT taking huge campaign contributions from corporations. (although crockett is for campaign finance reform and thus agrees with Trump on this)

Crockett is against the only Republican onstage who told Jeb Bush to his face that George W. Bush's presidency was a disaster. (again, a position that crockett agrees with)

Crockett is against the only Republican onstage who isn't being funded in part by the Koch Brothers (whom crockett hates)

Crockett is against the only Republican onstage who was against the Iraq War from the very beginning and has it on record. (a position that crockett agrees with as well)

Crockett is FOR Jeb Bush? Seriously?

I don't get it.
This must be Crockett trolling at it's very finest.

Is this true crockett?? These are serious allegations that need to be addressed.

I've been pretty sick most of the day so I missed the debate, but caught some of the analysis after. It was interesting to me how some of the hosts said that Trump had offended women with some of what he said and gave ammo to Hillary Clinton. They went on and on about how he will have issues with female voters (and maybe he will if he gets the nomination) then they cut to these groups that were watching the debate and asked the women if Trump offended them. None of them were offended.

It was highly entertaining, the entire thing with Trump being the elephant in the room plays like an SNL sketch to me.

He can't win the Republican nomination, the power behind the RNC would never let it happen, so he'll probably end up running as an independent and we know how that works out.

The rich boor character who gets worse when encouraged is hilarious. I have him on my Twitter, it's 4AM and he's still tweeting like a mofo, insulting anybody and everybody who doesn't kiss his ass. 'Clown' 'Not a good person, a beggar' 'Never liked her, ugly person' 'Total failure, people don't like him'

The problem with what they tell you they will do, is how many do it, how many drop pledges and how many can't get their promises through the Senate and Congress?

I gotta give him credit. Trump refusing to pledge allegiance to the Republican party was pretty fucking dope. In the academic sense, he fell flat on his face. But he struck a heavy duty chord with the voters I'm sure.

My personal favorite moment was rand Paul getting curbstomped pretty much every time he opened his mouth. Lol

That was his one and only bit of detail into how he would do anything other than say I'm Donald Trump..
Please stop with the coherent analysis of his ineptitude and the underlying reasons for his popularity, you're ruining it for the rest of us

For real though, the post-debate polls aren't just a victory for peeps who value stream of consciousness brash/ignorant/tourette-style remarks and hit-the-amygdala-sound-bites over logic, wisdom and reason, the results are an indictment of your whole constitutional republic

Trump serves as a mirror for a specific segment of the American population, and the view is pretty ugly. If I think about it for too long my head will explode, that people can perceive off-the-cuff ignorant remarks as 'straight-shooter' truth and value that instead of demanding more from their prospective leaders. Ethics, honesty, wisdom, egalitarian leadership, all that kooky ish.

This goes beyond Trump btw, anti-intellectualism is a time-honored tradition in your nation. There's a reason why peeps on the US campaign stump pose with guns instead of books. There's a reason why such an obscene amount of cash is needed to even get a shot at the brass ring.

Looking at the US from outside, y'all have a system that's irrevocably broken as fuck. Due to the set up of your campaign system top echelon money and power alway win, people don't. if I was a US citizen I'd hold my nose and vote democrat but I wouldn't be pleased about it; to me the choice between the lesser of two evils is not an acceptable range of viable options.

No wonder almost half the people in your nation can't be bothered to show up at the polls.

That was not a debate. He just ran his mouth and didn't say much, as usual. He's picked immigration as his pet issue, so as long as he appeals to the xenophobes he's done his job.

Every answer he gave for a direct question was evasive and full of bullshit. I'm very shocked that Fox News went after him the way they did, but they probably have orders to take him out. I'm sure if he could be easily assassinated, someone in the RNC would have it done.

Trump won because his presence was felt the most. But nothing of any substance came out of his mouth. John Kasich has much better things to say, but he's a bump on a log compared to Trump. People gravitate towards personality, even shitty, boisterous ones.

I hate Mike Huckabee, but I like his tax ideas. Same for Ben Carson. Do away with the income tax and make it based on consumption.

Because he looks the best is exactly the reason he won't make it through the primary. If I was going to like any Republican on that stage, he would be high on the list.

I cut the cable 2+ years ago -- glad I did.

Faux News Republican Debate -- the first meeting of the mindless.

Wouldn't be fun if The Donald and Bernie run a third and forth party challenge and the election is thrown into the Electoral College like the framers really intended.

Maybe, there would be a new constitutional convention called in the aftermath ... The Donald and Bernie are shaking things up they should run on the same ticket -- they might actually win ... (Damn, I woke up )

I agree with some of that. But...how is Trump an "anti-intellectual"?

For fuck's sake...look at what the idiots in charge of the U.S. have done to our country in the past 60 or so years! If having war after war, a giant military budget, and being in debt at over 18 TRILLION dollars is "intellectual"...then what the fuck!

Trump is well educated, world traveled, and very, very successful. Lifetime/career bureaucrats are not exclusively fit to run the executive branch of the govt.
What Trump represents is an actual EXECUTIVE.

And if you look at the polling data...Trump is winning over everyone in one main category: The Economy

That is not mindless or anti-intellectual in any way shape or form.

Those of us who run successful businesses would tell you straight up that what you perceive as Trump's brashness is actually a necessary personality trait to being successful.

Or as my grandfather once told me..."Son if you don't think you're the best, then how can you expect anyone else to?"

Your analysis is way off on why he's in front.
And a grand example of an elitist/snobbish looking down your nose as if you are superior kind of attitude.

People are sick of that shit and are looking for someone to not lie to them and not suck the cock of the established powers that be.
Trump fits that bill.

That you can't see that and only see him as an "Ugly" American is your own bias and inability to view what he represents with an open mind.

What you see as "brash"...people see as a guy who isn't taking any shit.
And if you couldn't see that Fox News was doing everything they could think of to derail him in that debate...then you just aren't interested in making an honest observation.

I'm surprised ********** hasn't weighed in on this debate yet with a barrage of anti-republican comments and memes. Though I'm sure if he watched his head would have exploded. Then again maybe he spent the night hurling anti-Harper comments at the screen while watching the Canadian election debate and he's just watching the repub debates now.

Holy crap that's funny.

All kidding aside.... If Trump does run as an independent, wouldn't that kill the Republican chances of taking back the White House?

Everyone knows who and what Trump is - he had a massively huge hit television where he was basically himself. It's a bit curious to me that people are trying to "figure him out" as if there is anything to figure out. He's an arrogant prick and a sociopath who is worth 10,000,000,000.00 because he plays the game of real estate better than anyone else in the nation.

I have yet to hear a single person anywhere ever talking about him making a great President. His popularity coupled with no clear message other than "fuck those guys, they're stupid" shows exactly how tired people on both sides are of career politicians.

I'm sorry, you were only discussing Trump. Trump isn't being single out for anything except being a bully and and uninformed idiot with no concrete solution to any problem this country faces. This could be said of every single presidential candidate, but I am specifically addressing Trump.

No, I'm actually disappointed in Trump. He had the money and the ability to be a moderate middile of the road candidate. He was previously a democrat and now a republican. Meaning he could have presented himself as America's candidate not Republican, not Democat..

Instead he just keeps trying to rally up the far extreme right and catering to their non sense. Added to this, he doesn't seem to be putting real effort into explaining how he plans to do anything.
