If you rely on energy drinks to rev you up, this may change your mind: Teens who down the heavily caffeinated drinks may be more prone to traumatic brain injury (TBI), according to a new University of Toronto study.

Although TBIs happen in a variety of ways ? falls, fistfights, car accidents ? the No. 1 cause among teens is sports. And, unfortunately, the rate of brain damage is only rising: Between 2001 and 2009, the number of sports-related head injuries among children (ages 19 or younger) leapt by 57 percent, according to a CDC analysis.

Mentioned further above...you wouldn`t drink or eat fuck-all if you believed everything the *experts* quoted. I heard the other day that drinking water was bad for you and that they have been getting it wrong for years about fried foods in that it`s nowhere near as bad for you as previously quoted.

I drink about 5 cups of coffee a day. I drink Red Bull if I'm having a late night and need the boost. Otherwise I don't touch it.

At a certain point in time common sense could have told them the same thing. The number one cause of such accidents are sports, and most kids.... play sports.

Same, the only thing I drink with cafine is ice tea, but I usually only have 1 or 2 a day at most. I drink water 90% of the time.

Looks like they tried to approximate in ratio to human intoxicating dosage levels and be non lethal, but not sure the methodology supports that.
