Putin: No need to distinguish between ?moderate? & other terrorists

There can be no "moderate" terrorists, President Putin said, speaking about the situation in the Middle East at the Valdai discussion forum.

"Why play with words dividing terrorists into moderate and not moderate. What's the difference?" Putin told the forum.

A whole "snarl" of terrorist groups act in the region, who fight also against each other for "sources of income" and not for ideology, Putin said, adding that the weapons provided to "moderate" opposition in the region had ended up in the hands of terrorists.

Some countries are playing a double game, the Russian president said, adding that while they fight against terrorism they also "place figures on the board" in their own interests.

?Success in fighting terrorists cannot be reached if using some of them as a battering ram to overthrow disliked regimes," Putin told the forum, saying that this way the terrorists would not go anywhere. "It's just an illusion that they can be dealt with [later], removed from power and somehow negotiated with," he added.

And terrorist governments that drop barrel bombs from helicopters and use chemical weapons in civilian populated areas are the good guys ...

If you took the time to look at some of the maps of the Russian airstrikes it would become apparent that Putin's mission is to protect Russia's last military base in the Middle East.

Meantime, ISIS has $50 million dollar a month oil export business going on -- none of the Russian nor the USA airstrikes are doing much to destroy the ISIS Oil Industry

They have the right to defend their national security interests, and keep in mind they were invited in by Syria to help them deal with the terrorist issue which was spiraling out of control

He maybe speaks it right, but I still don't understand why Russia should be involved into that war conflict. Let's Assad, the moderate terrorists, the radical one, the USA and their allies bash each other where - I don't care of those. As a Russian citizen I have no benefit of the Syrian war. Putin is a real crazy man who will do anything for his media ratings and I really loathe this jackstraw.

First sensible thing you has said in a while. The real danger to Russia is ISIS and ISIS' helping Radical Militant Islamist Jihadi in Russia. ISIS is the only real enemy

The West want to keep putting their NATO bases closer to Russia. Putin only believes in force when it's absolutely necessary, that's why he's waited so long. Putin has done the world a favor by getting involved, the situation was getting well out of control and needed someone to work with Assad and start clearing up the mess. The cost to Russia of not acting would have been more than than cost of getting involved.

@_Richard_:

Almost 13 years of low level warfare now in the ME and the situation has not improved much ... But in the context of the ME there has been low level warfare for millenia there.

Someone is always making money off the oilfields there and ISIS wants it share so they just take it by force.

ISIS is a partnership of Osama's guys and the boogie men of the Saddam regime -- the 'legends' live on.

Oh yeah, I am waiting for the Russians to fuck up. The same way the USA did in Iraq and the Israelis did in Gaza. When you bomb from the sky -- shit happens.

Depends who it is bombing from the sky, if it's someone who wants to cause shit, or someone who wants to work with the elected leader and help clear up the mess

The Muslim world has already called for Jihad against Russia. In Russia and not just against the Russian 'invasion' force. So, when the suicide bombers become a security nightmare in the Russian Federation remember why. Putin stirred the hornet's nest ...

If Putin was smart he would have just evacuated Russia's Naval and Air bases in Syria and washed his hands of the whole matter. Russia would not have suffered. Assad is just a liability to Moscow.

The whole terrorist network thing is controlled by the CIA, so that's why there are threats of suicide bombing.

Russia can't keep letting go of areas where they have influence, otherwise at some point they won't control enough of the chessboard which will make it easier for the US to dominate and bring Russia to their knees.

The clown is obsessed with Russia. I wonder why? When I come to GFY (which is so-called US-based board), I see "Russia" in the thread tittles on every page. When I go to Russian-speaking webmaster boards I see no mention of "США" in the thread. For some unknown reason nobody here gives a shit about the situation the USA...

Fuck Vietnam that was 50 years ago.

And FYI I was a draft evader and an anti Vietnam war activist in the late 60's and early 70's and damn proud of it. Maybe I made that useless cross-dressing, POS; J Edgar Hoover's List.

What my country was doing in Vietnam was so my dad had a top paying job making guided missile parts while my generation was going through the Southeast Asia meat grinder. So, your lame ass won't get a rise out of me by posting a lot of anti-American images from Vietnam. I am not a 'my country right or wrong' type of guy -- that's what they said in the Vietnam war days. So, are you a Putin right or wrong thinker? That logic didn't work well 50 years ago and that logic won't work today.

The US Defense Department denied and denied incursions into Laos and Cambodia at first and one of my buddies, who had a pretty bad case of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) told me the real deal -- he was a Special Forces Sergeant dropped into Cambodia in the late 60's before the shit hit the fans. You were drool running down your father's leg in those days most likely.

You must live under a rock somewhere if you don't know some of the Assad 'dynasty's' crimes -- why do you think there is support for the FSA within Syria?

Everything that you don't like is a CIA or Mossad plot to you -- so fuck off.

FSB (KGB) good CIA and Mosaad evil.

Got news for you they are all evil if they are against you

I read this morning that Putin now wants out -- he is telling Assad he wants free internationally supervised elections now. That is a no starter: how can you have elections when half your county's population is displaced or has fled the country?
More Pootin shit ...

Putin has boxed Russia into a no win scenario and is trying to get out of the mess he made. Well at least he is smarter than Bush and Cheney were -- they kept digging a deeper hole and now we have ISIS -- idiots.

The same as you call American rebels in Syria. Are they just good US rebels who cut Christian throats from a time to time or they are jihadists and terrorists? Enlighten me please, professor.

P.S. I'm talking about not only ISIS warriors right now. I'm talking about all the American rebels in Syria, including those allahhu-akbars with the US-made & the US-supplied TOW-s:

It's funny you are defending a guy who drops barrel bombs of TNT out of helicopters on civilians.. Someone who has flattened entire cities under his own rule.. Yet as usual you want to blame the U.S.. While Russia is supporting a guy killing his own people.
