What is the best methods for getting quality hits to mainstream sites (as in solid goods, nothing adult).

Porn is easy.

But mainstream is new for me.

With porn, its about just getting hits. With luck some will equal money (even if its simply selling trades).

But mainstream is different.

Its about getting people who want tour products, rather than simply looking at your site.
