Anyone driving a Subaru?

Are you driving a Subaru or had one in the past?
Do you like it or can't wait to get rid of it?
Since 1.5yr ago I am driving a Legacy and however I am not such a car-freak this seems to be the best quality stuff I drove..

Post your + or - story and photo of the Subaru you have / had.

I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I love it. It's a full sized SUV, very comfortable, handles great, hauls whatever I need to haul, has a huge gas tank, and with the full time four wheel drive I can go anywhere I want to go.

I loved their cars back in the nineties because they came fully loaded much like a KIA is now.

I had a 99 Forester until a couple years ago. It was great and perfect for camping and boating trips until the suspension snapped and I made the mistake of getting a BMW instead..

Thought of getting a 2014 Subaru Legacy, but it starts at $35k, so had to pass for Jetta.

My mother totaled 2 cars (Volvo's) in the last year of her life and my father had 2 wrecks (also volvo's) in the past 3 years. He is a horrible driver and now 86.

After looking into collision avoidance systems, I realized all all 4 accidents could have been avoided with the new Subaru eyesight system so I bought him a legacy (had to be ordered which took almost 4 months) and I feel much better.

Most everyone I know here in the mountains has at least 1 Subaru for when the driving gets bad. The attitude is if the Subaru can't make it, we shouldn't be out.

Sadly as his skills including memory have gotten worse, he may not be able to drive more longer. When that happens I plan on selling my car keeping the Legacy. Far from as nice as a loaded Volvo, it gets way better mileage, is more reliable and is much safer.

Before anyone makes any comments, my father refused to stop driving and going to his doctors (all his friends) they told me he is not bad enough to be banned from driving yet.

Spending 28K meant that he so far had a year more freedom and I feel as comfortable as possible knowing that the chances of him hurting someone is reduced as much as I can.

You have the chance to fix this mistake in the future

If you consider used cars, you can get a 6-7 year old legacy for less than $10k and you won't really get a car with 'used-car-feeling' but a Car with a little age and nothing more.

Glad to hear that those Volvos at least did good job on protecting your parents [at least you haven't mentioned injuries, so I assume (and do hope) they were kept safe even in the totaled cars]. Thank You for sharing your story, and I hope that you won't resist and buy one for yourself sooner than your father says you can can take his one.

Looks good. Reminds me the times when I was younger.

NEVER had any good luck with used cars. That's why I chose to go with a new one.

I love my Outback. The thing can rip up the icy and snowy mountain roads like nothing I've driven before.

I've noticed other AWD cars like the Honda CRV stuck on almost flat sheet of ice, they seem to get stuck with one or two wheels spinning. The Subaru can launch out like the roads were dry.

I had a legacy wagon which was a decent car but I had to upgrade to something with a bit more zip. Driving v6 RAV4 now which so far has been great, fits two dogs and several people nicely. And goes fast enough that people complain

I looked at these and the Chevy Traverse as well as the new Land Rover. Can't make up my mind though. I like the Volvo xc90 but they are too much $$ for what you're getting.

That was funny. On a serious note - do they even have "little" model in their line? I think not, they start from mid sized sedans or so.

They are great cars but where I live a certain type of person tends to drive those cars. They go slightly under the speed limit. And if they are driving on the freeway they all need to a have their own lane and they ALL drive the same speed so there is no fast lane like everywhere else on Earth. They do not understand the concept of merging so if they are entering the freeway they expect the cars already on the freeway to slow down so they can enter.

Frustrating Subaru update.

So I have been up in NY since the weekend driving my fathers car I bought him. Overall other than a few minor "wish they" suggestions such as a bigger clock, I am loving the car until I started playing with some of the features.

My fathers hearing is diminished and most of the special warnings the car gives you he can not hear. While the braking and acceleration control will stop many potential accidents, the audible warning is not adjustable enough along with a lack of tactile feedback to give warning to people with diminished hearing.

Love the way the car handles for a non performance/luxury car and will gladly enjoy driving it when he can no longer which feels like 2016, 2017 the latest.

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about that
