James Bond Spectre - What a let down.

Just got home from the movies and what a let down. I went into it with high expectations, and it wasn't nearly as good as I had expected. 5 out of 10 for overall entertainment, 1 out of 10 as a Bond flick.

******MINOR SPOILER ALERT WARNING********

Is it me or did they try too hard to play the whole Bond lady's man angle? It was painful watching Bond seduce Lucia right after her husband's funeral, and when she had no apparent attraction towards him. Then on the train, right after Bond gets his ass handed to him, him and Madeline go into the cabin to make out. The overall entertainment was good, but for a Bond movie, it had no real direction and they tried too hard. The chase scene where Bond was in the plane was pretty pathetic, even for modern Hollywood standards.

It wasn't bad, just a very standard action movie.
And unnecessary long in my opinion.

If you are a Bond fan then you get it and understand what these movies are about. I loved Spectre, it wasn't as good as Skyfall but it was still pretty great IMO.

I personally think Daniel Craig is a great Bond, he brings a real rawness to the character that not many have brought. I hope he plays another few movies.

Some of the action was mildly predictable, but that is how a bond movie should be. I like the story .. I give it 8/10

I'm with you on all of this. I've heard that this will be his final role as 007.

I vowed never to waste money or time watching another James Bond movie ever again. It's like they aren't even trying anymore.

Daniel Craig just called this one in - you could tell he wasn't in to it.

And, fire those writers - awful script... So many plot holes, and things that didn't make sense

That one was GOD AWFUL.

BUT, I have to admit, I really enjoyed Casino Royale and Skyfall. Both were done pretty well and had a strong enough story to push forward an origin of Bond.

Quantum of Solace and Spectre were shit though. I was looking forward to Christophe Waltz as the main baddie, but he's barely in the movie.

After being let down by all the recent Bond movies, I'm not even going to bother trying to see this one. In my opinion the recent Bond movies are very poor in comparison to the earlier ones. The scenes/photography is more boring, there's no humour, there's no flair, it's just action/violence and for me that's run of the mill and not what a James Bond film should be.

There are mixed rumours in the UK press. There was a quote from Daniel Craig himself recently where he said something along the lines of he isn't in a rush to quit playing Bond but wants to take some time to think a lot of things through.

I can see him doing one more then moving aside for a younger acter to bring a fresh face to the franchise.

i wouldn't use "shit" (that i reserve for movies like Sharknado) but I otherwise I agree

and I think Craig is an awesome Bond

The first 10 minutes (before the opening sequence) was classic Bond. After the opening sequence, it just flat lined. It was like bringing home a super hot hooker, only to find out she's a tranny when you get her home.

To me, it still feels like he is a fresh face to the Bond movies. I won't say he's the best to play the role, but one of the best for sure. I hope he does one more.

Actually saw that yesterday as I wanted a movie to plug off. Haven't seen any Bond with Craig before, and thought he himself was pretty solid. The action and the first half of the movie in general had solid pace, original Bond adventure feel, fight scenes had great choreography.

But then in the second half it sort of lost pace and had too many goofs, shortcuts, unconvincing moments or dialogues, trying too hard at times, at the edge of a parody.

Most of all considering the production costs must have been astronomic, there's too many high level environments / plot opportunities / characters that don't deliver anything but a few minutes of simplified half assed action.

Plus what I loathe in general, too much CGI, you could recognize immediately when one walks on an artifically inserted surface, against artificial background, using it in a car chase is a total blasphemy - a proper car chase can only be realistic using real cars and real stunts, you have to "feel" the tires and metal scratching the surface etc..

Anyway, I'll most likely check the previous Craig ones too.
