Hateful Eight Has Been Pirated, Seen it yet?

'Hateful Eight' Pirated Screener Traced Back to Top Hollywood Executive (Exclusive) - Hollywood Reporter

Quote:
A copy mailed to Alcon Entertainment co-CEO Andrew Kosove was uploaded to file-sharing sites as the FBI probes a damaging leak of the Quentin Tarantino film. "I've never seen this DVD," Kosove tells THR. "It's never touched my hands."

It's pretty bad, and could easily have been an hour shorter without effecting the plot at all - and I heard that the 70mm version is another half hour longer. Overall a very boring movie with very little going on in it.

Thanks. Nothing seemed to really stand out as cool in the trailer. I wasn't gonna go see it anyways.

Tarantino was pissed when he found out his script was leaked. I wonder how bad this will piss him off.

I was pretty disappointed in it. He set the bar too high for himself with Django imho

It was leaked because he sent advance screeners for awards consideration. All that shit gets leaked every single year, it's not even a maybe - send out screeners and your shit is all over the torrents, guaranteed. So he may be pissed but I am sure if he spent 5 minutes thinking about what would happen he is not surprised.

I liked the second half but the first half was pretty dam boring. It's no Django, that's for sure.

Django was a pretty cool movie, but not great. It's average and ended a bit in a movie for a school project (it all of a sudden felt amateurish, even childish). So i don't think the bar was high to begin with for him.

Tarantino isn't trying to make "great" movies. He's a fan of B movies and grindhouse exploitation from the 70's. He's just showing us how much better that old crap could have been with the right casting and budget.

This smells like a publicity stunt. Something very similar happened to Django being pirated, and it did pretty well regardless. Tarantino took a big hit with his main demographic after the stunt he pulled. I personally have no desire to watch Hateful 8. Even the trailers did nothing for me. I'm so over spaghetti westerns.

i don't care about intentions of directors, i care about whether i think it's a good and entertaining movie. It sounds cliche but Pulp Fiction was a great movie, it has everything and is entertaining from start to finish. To bad he doesnt make them like that anymore.

not true at all. read some interviews with the guy. hen thinks he is one of the greatest directors that ever lived.

once i realized his movies were just collages of spliced together scenes pulled from his autistic-like recall of endless obscure and forgotten films that killed the magic for me.

The Hateful 8 70mm - Roadshow experience is playing here in Montreal starting on the 25th and I plan to see it in this format, because the artists behind the movie made this movie to be experienced in this way.

No one who watches a compressed, pirated copy on a small screen gets to have any say in the quality of the movie whatsoever.

Whoever leaked the movie to the download sites deserves to be put in jail and / or sued.

Every Tarantino movie is the same. Blood, guts, killing, highly stylized pointless crap.

Pulp Fiction is the only QT movie you need to see. Watch that one and you've seen every one.

Feel the same way about pirated porn or is jail reserved solely for MPAA violations?

Well then you're really missing out. Inglourious Basterds was fucking awesome as was Django and Jackie Brown is very underrated.

Why did that kill magic for you? Picasso once said that good artists copy, great artists steal. It's how things evolve.

btw, do you also avoid all PTA movies?

This scene was based on a scene from I Am Cuba by Mikhail Kalatozov.

It says he was emailed a copy.

To say he's the leak after it was emailed to him is dubious.

My guess is it has the right actors, a good story and great cinematography but it gets ruined by Tarantinos ego....once again he will masturbate all over his audience.

I did see it on pirate sights along with The Revenant which looks interesting. I will certainly wait on Hateful 8 to come out on video might go see Revenant

I've come to realize that Quentin Tarantino loves to hear himself talk (through his characters). There was a time when I appreciated his work, but characters yapping for 3 hours is not my thing these days. Showing is better than telling.

I enjoy QT, and especially the ones you mentioned. Even Kill Bill is enjoyable, for the action.

What would be interesting is for these connoisseurs of movies to tell us the films they do think are good. And the great ones.

Movies are to fill a few hours, not change your understanding of life. Be thankful a few do.

My buddy was playing it at his house yesterday to my surprise. High quality too! Big Tarantino fan so I am biased, but I really enjoyed it. The intro was way too long and drawn out, but once the movie starts, it is good. Definitely worth watching.

Everything is pirated before it comes out on theatres. I can watch anything I want using Kodi. If it's not on Genesis, it's on SALT, Phoenix or Navi-X

What about marking every screener with watermarks in different screens (so that you know which one leaked even if they blur/cut watermarks)? Or even trickier - cut a second here and there differently and you could track which one leaked by the length of the movie (as well as size). I bet that way the fuckers would not even know they were being tracked.

I watch pirated movies and TV shows all the time. Know why? Because the fuckwads running the studios/networks don't make it easy for me to buy their product. Netflix, HBO and Amazon are for the U.S. Market only.

And no, I'm not going to run a VPN or change my DNS.

Give me what I want when I want it and I'll pay for it. I PAY for subscriptions for MLB, NFL Gamepass and the NBA. I pay because it's instant and a superior product. Condensed games are about all I watch.

Innovation+easy distribution+superior product=many monies.

Adapt or die.

Feel the same way about pirated porn or is jail reserved solely for MPAA violations?
Porn too.

Will you be sending $20.00 to Mr. Tarantino? Will your buddy send $20 too?

Then go to the theatre. Or watch them on broadcast TV. Or look for other services like Hulu. By watching pirated content you are stealing right out of the hands of the artists who make them.

The funny thing about the leak. They traced it back to the guy who produced the new Point Break remake. Which also happens to open the same day as The Hateful Eight.

He's already had a visit from the FBI.

He's not the first and he won't be the last. Anyone who watches movies and makes movies does this from the get go. Even the masters.
