Question for Guitar heads - how do you play this?

I really want to learn how to play this song

But I can't figure it out. I tried down-tuning a half step + drop D tuning but I can't get the sound, nor can I figure out what he's playing. I know its mostly a D chord but what the fuck is the high note on every 3/4th beat?

Dude... Top string is tuned down to drop D. The 2 high notes are played on the A string. Just going from the 8th fret to the 5th fret while still also hitting the low D (top string tuned down).

You'd think a fucking webmaster would know how to do this.

Let me google that for you

I'm already d-droped, but it sounds way too fast to jump 8th to 5th fret. Are you sure? And can you think of another way to do it? I tried it but it still sounds way off, and I am not fast enough to move like that. Ugh.

I know but in this case Google failed me. I saw this video:

But what is he doing with his middle finger? Even when I zoom in and watch closely I still can't make it out.

quite a few effects in the guitarist's rig line to get that sound, tons of delay.

Tune the E string down to a D.

First note lowest 2 strings open (D A) then both strings up to the 15th fret then to 12
