Lets say that you learnt GA and Adwords (PPC) and now you want to get hired by a company, what would be the best way to demonstrate that you know PPC?

So to do that would you join an affiliate program and then drive sales using PPC and then let them have access to your adwords account???

Is it best to just drive traffic to the merchant site or should I create my own bespoke landing pages that link to the merchant site???

I've always used customer testimonials. When I first started doing PPC (Adwords) back in 2004, I would do it for my own sites and created benchmark spreadsheets. It would show my current traffic, traffic after PPC was implemented, and any other type of metric that prospective clients would ask to see. After that, I landed a couple relatively small contracts, and used them as references for new bigger clients, then so on, and so on.

Short answer, the only way to show you know PPC is by showing results. Without results, anyone can say they know how to set up an Adwords campaign.

I'd ask for previous experience and proof. It's a lot more than being able to set up a GA account.
If you don't at least know statistics and how to optimize and scale up without blowing through their ad budget, they don't want to hire you..
