Mississippi Gun-Store Owner and Son Die in Shootout with Customers

Oh well .... at least they got to try the goods that they are selling ...

Quote:
A gun-store owner and his son were killed in a shootout with two customers after an argument over a $25 firearm repair fee, police told NBC station WDSU.

The patrons were also taken to hospital with serious injuries following Saturday's incident at the store near Picayune, Mississippi, which is 130 miles south of Jackson.

The customers, who are also a father and son, had visited the store to collect a firearm that had been dropped off for repair. They became irate after being told it was not ready and there would be a $25 service charge, the Pearl River County Sheriff's Office told WDSU.

The argument descended into a shootout, resulting in the owner and his son dying from "multiple gunshot wounds" and the customers being transferred to intensive care, Sun Herald newspaper reported.

The case is still being investigated and no charges have been filed, the newspaper reported Sunday. NBC News was not able to reach the Pearl River County Sheriff's Office for an update early Monday.

I was always saying that: firearms must be totally banned in the States. Some countries can deal with guns responsibly, some can't.

Any comment on all the Russian dash-cam videos where someone jumps out of their Lada with a gun?

1) Firearms are officially allowed in Russia and can be bought in any weapon store. Anybody can buy them if he has no convictions, he's not a junky/alcoholic and he has no problems with psychics. It takes about 2 weeks to get a permission. Ah, one most important thing... the one must have a safe in the house.

2) Those videos are fun, so how many people were shot dead on them (killed each other or were killed by police)? Dare to compare with the US shooting "dashcam" videos on youtube?

A verdict is very simple: firearms must be totally banned in the USA, otherwise those grown kids will kill each other.

That's why every single day we have news form your country about yet another massacre committed by some crazy mofo with a gun. The way to go, USA

P.S. Russians are not Americans and they are not rushing to the stores to buy firearms. They are not idiots. That's why it's very easy to get a permission, but almost nobody wants to use this opportunity.

dumbfuck rooskie

With a murder rate many times higher than the US, Russian legislators approved the carry of guns for self-defense.

Russia Legalises Guns for Self Defence with Murder Rates Among Highest in World

The new law was announced on November 18.

there are only â??13 millionâ? privately owned firearms in Russia compared to approximately 310 million the US. On the other hand, â??there were 21,603 murders in Russiaâ? in 2009 compared with just over 13,600 in the US, â??which has a population almost twice as large [as Russia].â?

With Murder Rate Far Beyond US Levels, Russia Legalizes Carry of Guns for Self-Defense - Breitbart

That's why they must get a clinical certificate from a psychotherapist

P.S. I was thought to get a permission because I was learning pistol shooting since 9 year old, also I've got assault riffle shooting skills in army (I can hit a silhouette target with one of 3 rounds from 350 meters with old good AK-47). However, I'm too lazy to do that. Actually I feel pretty safe w/o a gun. Also here in Russia you can carry a pneumatic gun, a pepper spray, a taser or a knife w/o any permission at all.

I tell this story every time there is a shooting... My friend John has "water on the brain", a dozen brain surgeries, and operates on the level of a sixteen year old... He shouldn't be allowed to drive; He's has more accidents in the past three years than I've had my entire life. Yet no one questions why he needs an AR15. This man is fifty years old, can't get laid in a whore house with a pocket full of cash... He operates as an independent adult and hasn't killed anyone yet so.... He is allowed to own a firearm.

It's scary as all hell.

Note how large scale media doesn't cover the many many MANY times where the presence of a firearm in the hands of a law abiding person PREVENTS a crime, mostly without a shot being fired. It doesn't fit the agenda to talk about all of those, and it's considered boring...

If there are many youtube videos that show use of fireams to commit the crime, there must be some videos on how the firearms prevent them - that's just a statistical assumption. Post some of them here please. Just don't post police and military ones. I wanna look at civilian videos that show a regular guy using his gun to prevent a crime. Will be interesting to compare them to the number of the criminal and unjustified ones.

Thank you in advance!

Exactly. That's why guns must be forbidden for sale in some particular countries.

When you wake up in the middle of the night and there is an intruder, you don't grab your video camera. I'm sure that you can easily find security camera of armed store owners chasing away would be robbers with their guns, if you want to. They are on You-tube, I'm sure.

No offense, but did you really think that through?

Meanwhile...

Score two for one armed citizen. A Dayton, Ohio, woman who has been targeted by criminals multiple times has used a gun to protect herself twice. The latest incident occurred in September, when the 46-year-old fatally shot a man who broke into her home in the wee hours of the morning. At about 3 a.m. one day, she called 911 to report that someone tried breaking in through a first-floor window. Security bars there kept him out; however, the man then climbed to the second story and broke through another window. The woman hid in the bathroom and shot the intruder when he came in after her. The wounded man jumped from the second story and fled, but he was found dead nearby. The same homeowner also wounded a home invader in 2013. An investigation of the latest case is ongoing. (Dayton Daily News, Dayton, OH, 9/10/15)

When three men broke into a Tulsa, Okla., home, the female resident was prepared for them. According to the victim, the crooks pried her door open and broke a window as they entered her residence. Armed with a handgun, the homeowner opened fire when one of the intruders approached her menacingly. While none of her shots found their mark, they were successful in sending all three criminals running for the door. The police are working to identify and capture the failed burglars. This is not the first time that the victimâ??s home has been targeted by criminals. (newson6.com, Tulsa, OK, 8/31/15)

A Phoenix, Ariz., man was forced to use a handgun for defense against a burglar when his initial verbal warnings did not have the required effect. The homeowner, who is in his 60s, was home alone when he was alerted to the sound of a window breaking. Spotting the intruder as he attempted to enter the residence through the broken window, the homeowner retrieved his gun and warned the intruder that he was armed. When the suspect continued attempting to enter the building, the resident fired at the interloper, striking him at least once. The burglar fled down an alley but collapsed a short distance later. (azfamily.com, Phoenix, AZ, 9/23/15)

When a California homeless man witnessed a young woman being beaten by a man near a Fresno, Calif., liquor store late one night, he didnâ??t hesitate to help. Paul DeLeon came across the fighting couple and used pepper spray on the male, who was later identified as the womanâ??s ex-boyfriend. The suspect responded by tracking down DeLeon and firing a gun at him several times, hitting him once in the arm. DeLeon, who had a registered handgun, returned fire, scaring off the suspect. The ex-boyfriendâ??s car was later found abandoned at a near-by intersection, though the man remains on the lam. The Fresno County Sheriffâ??s Office called DeLeon a Good Samaritan, and said no charges will be brought against him. (abcnews.com, 8/7/15)

No charges will be filed against a Hamshire, Texas, man who shot and killed a 16-year-old burglary suspect. When a barking dog awakened the homeowner during the night, the man grabbed his gun and investigated. He stumbled upon a masked intruder in his kitchen and fired several shots, hitting the bad guy at least once. The suspect fled and jumped a fence, but neighbors who had heard the shots held the teen at gunpoint until the authorities arrived. After the Hamshire Volunteer Fire Department emergency medical team arrived, they pronounced the juvenile dead. A grand jury cleared the homeowner. (The Courier of Montgomery County, Conroe, TX, 8/18/15)

A Detroit homeowner was wounded after engaging in a gunfight with a criminal who was attempting to break into his home. The 55-year-old armed citizen was awakened by sounds outside, and he opened the front door to go investigate. At this point the suspect fired, causing the resident to return fire. The armed burglar then fled the scene, and is still being sought by authorities. The victimâ??s wounds are not considered life threatening, and it is unknown at this time whether or not his assailant was injured during the incident. (The Detroit News, Detroit, MI, 8/14/15)

As they were talking, a teen approached and asked to use a cell phone. Moments later, another teenâ??this one wearing a mask and glovesâ??appeared, pulled a gun and demanded their valuables. The male victim, who has a right-to-carry permit, instead drew his gun and shot the suspect. The other teen ran away. The female victim called 911 while the armed citizen rendered first aid, but the wounded suspect died at the scene. Investigators have since arrested and charged several teens, one of whom was allegedly involved in the night attack and others who were allegedly accomplices in crimes the dead teen committed earlier in the day. (St. Paul Pioneer Press, St. Paul, MN, 8/4/15)

A Bridgeport, Conn., criminal learned quickly that the target he had chosen to rob wasnâ??t quite as defenseless as he had thought. The armed creep entered a liquor store and demanded all the money from the register. As the proprietorâ??s wife started opening the register to comply, the store owner drew his own firearm, which sent the robber flying out the door. This is not the first time this family-owned business has been harassed by thieves. The suspect remains at large, but surveillance video of the incident has been turned over to the authorities. (CBSNewYork, New York, NY, 12/4/15

The owner of a clothing store in Milwaukee used a semi-automatic rifle to fend off three armed intruders. In a brazen robbery attempt, a van smashed into the security doors. Three men jumped out of the vehicle and tried to conduct the heist. The business owner fired his rifle at the men, hitting one and causing all three to flee. Police later arrested one suspect at a hospital. â??It was a lot of guys out there. So I believe if they wouldâ??ve gotten through the door, I wouldâ??ve been dead, so thatâ??s the reason I reached for my gun,â? the man told the media. (WISN, Milwaukee, WI, 7/27/15)

One man is dead after a bold daylight home invasion was stopped by an armed would-be victim. Two men burst into a Fort Worth, Texas, apartment and demanded that they be given â??everything.â? Six people were inside the residence at the time, including a 1-month-old baby. One of the residents was able to produce a firearm and shoot one of the intruders in the chest and shoulder. The thief was dead by the time the police arrived at the scene, and the shooter is cooperating with the ensuing investigation. (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Fort Worth, TX, 8/26/15)

A 62-year-old man was arguing with a woman. After her brother intervened to make sure everything was OK, the assailant drew a .38 Spl.-chambered handgun and fired three shots at the womanâ??s brother. The brother, who had a right-to-carry permit, pulled out his own gun and shot the man in his leg. The attacker retreated, but he returned with a gun in each hand and shot at the woman, her 1-year-old son and another man. The womanâ??s brother again came to the aid, firing multiple times to give the victims time to flee. The assailant was apprehended after he sought medical treatment. (WXIX, Cincinnati, OH, 7/27/15)

The armed criminal had allegedly robbed a pizza restaurant and was fleeing when he came across a delivery driver in the parking lot. Thinking he could get some additional cash, he told the driver to hand over his money, too. But the driver was armed and shot the suspect. Albuquerque Police spokesman Tanner Trixier said the driver acted in self-defense, and no charges will be brought against him. The gunman was treated at a hospital and has been charged. (Albuquerque Journal, Albuquerque, NM, 6/30/15)

A homeowner in Bridgeton, N.J., will not face charges for the defensive use of his firearm during a home invasion that led to the death of the burglar. The county prosecutor announced that the suspect was â??clearly attempting to gain unlawful forced entryâ? into the residence when he was shot once in the chest, and witness statements and other evidence corroborated the victimâ??s story. (New Jersey Herald, Newton, NJ, 9/23/15)

According to local police, an armed 78-year-old Bremerton, Wash., man successfully used a firearm to chase a burglar from his property. The resident and his wife were sleeping in a second-story bedroom when their security alarm went off. Grabbing a handgun, the homeowner confronted the thief, causing him to flee into the garage. The resident followed the suspect into the garage, ordering him to surrender. Instead, the criminal got into the tenantâ??s car and started driving away, prompting the elderly man to fire his gun several times at the vehicle. The burglar was able to escape the scene, but the authorities were able to quickly locate him by tracking a phone stolen from the home. Upon confronting the thief, he led the authorities on a short chase in the victimâ??s car before bailing out and continuing to evade arrest on foot. No injuries were reported in the incident. (komonews.com, Seattle, WA, 8/5/15)

Man, if you can afford a gun for $500, please don't tell me you can't afford a $10 in-house camera. That's silly. Also there is a shitload (actually even more than this word can express) of videos where guns are used to commit a crime or to kill an unarmed US citizen by a police officer, but for some unknown reason there are no videos showing an armed citizen (not a policeman) who use firearms to prevent a crime. How come? Why bystanders are used to film crimes only and they completely ignore anti-crime actions? Don't you have dashcams, surveillance cameras etc in the States? I've been to your country and I know you have a lot of 'em, so where are the videos you have mentioned about in your first post to this thread?

People in the US typically don't put cameras inside their own houses. Is this common in Russia?

Actually they are. There are many sites with IP addresses of unprotected (publicly open) US home cameras. If you are familiar with Google, you'll find them just easily. Also what about bystanders and surveillance cameras? Why do they always show crimes committed by people with guns but don't show the crimes prevented by civilians with guns? Any guesses?

P.S. I don't want to say there are no such cases. Course there are, but their number is just incomparable with the number of crimes committed with guns. So the equation good + evil is always evil in the country you are currently living in.

I'm afraid that your ignorance of this subject is on the same level of my ignorance with the Russian murder, crime and home video situation.

Moving along...
