Home alarm system recommendation

Hi All,

My insurance company is requiring an alarm system installation. Any recommendations?

Of course we need burglary and fire protection as well and central monitoring and iPhone access is needed.

I prefer a plan that doesn't have a long term contract...

Looking at ADT, Vivant , Simplisafe etc.

Advice is appreciated.

Thanks, Mitch

check out XFINITY® Home Security Systems, Alarm Systems from Comcast

I don't have one now but I use to have ADT and they have a longterm contract.. not sure what xfinity's plan is but my mom uses it and she seems to like it for her place and it has phone apps

simply safe looks promising too but when things look too good or cheap to be true they normally aren't all they are cracked up to be.

I have ADT. You don't really know how well everything works until after it's too late.

Go with ADT ,the only drawback is the monthly monitoring fee

DO NOT go with ADT go to the forums on alarms and see the reviews they are absolutely awful. I have simplisafe and I recommend them. You own the equipment and monitoring is 19.99 a month which you don't have to pay if you just want the alarm. Ours has gone off and the cops were here in 3 minutes. That's how good they are. More upfront yes but no contract and no worries they won't dispatch the police. That and bay alarm if you are in the Cali area but they charge like 50 a month.

I'm telling you simplisafe is phenomenal and you can take it with you wherever you want as well. Uses cell signal and basic monitoring is only 10 bucks a month with no contract and they print out the certificate for your insurance company. I'm thinking that is what you want with no long term commitments. Read about them, they are great.

I've been using SimpliSafe for 1 and 1/2 years and I'm happy with them. No contract and uses cell instead of landline for monitoring. You can buy and install everything yourself. Excellent customer service. $14.95 a month here.

I have three dogs and don't even really need an alarm because I have a gated community with the guard gate and my home is gated as well but the Insurance company is requiring it with central fire alarm monitoring because of the home value blah blah blah.

yeah with simplisafe once you get it you can just print off the certificate and submit it to insurance and they take like 20% off. Plus the system is just great. Add more if you want or keep it simple.
