Can any Conservabro here explain why the GOP chose a *gun-free zone* to hold its convention?

It seems to go against their beliefs.

Because they do not pick venues based on gun allowances and/or because Arena was (I guess) the only one building able to hold (or best suited to hold) the convention?

So Conservatives are against gun-free zones everywhere else, but not against it at their convention? Sounds legit.

But the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Gun-free zones won't stop criminals from shooting up the place, because criminals don;t obey the law. That's what Conservatives keep saying. Why does that not apply to the GOP convention?

Your question is based on an inaccurate premise.

I am pro gun and the police officer that sold me my gun felt the same way. He was also against gun free zones.

If the GOP was consistent, they would have held their convention in a non-gun free zone. Did they ask GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson to host the convention in one of his Las Vegas properties? What about Ted Nugent...he's got acres out there somewhere in Michigan I think. If non-gun-free zones is such an important issue to the GOP, it is curios why they would hold their convention in a gun free zone.

How are they responsible for arena having no gun rule? It is not such a big deal (if at all) for them to look for another city.

I never said the GOP is responsible for Quicken Loans arena rule against guns. I said the GOP voluntarily chose that gun-free zone to hold its convention. That's strange because conservatives keep arguing against gun-free zones.

I already answered that it is not like there are 10 big arenas in Cleveland to choose from. And if it were - there would be many many other things to look for before they reach where they are comparing which arena has gun allowed and which does not.
You over exaggerate the importance of this point. It is so not important that I would not be surprised they even thought about this while ordering the location.

Who said that the 2016 GOP convention must be held in Cleveland anyhow? Is there not one single place in the USA that is not a gun-free zone? That's why I brought up Sheldon Adelson. He donates big time to the GOP. He has properties in Las Vegas big enough to hold the convention.

If eradicating gun-free zones is such an important issue to the GOP, they should hold their convention in a non-gun free zone. Or maybe gun-free zones are not really as important as they say it is....it's only important to the GOP when they can score political points. Hmm....

Excuses excuses.. the real truth is guns are just a talking point to get votes. The reality is none of them would be willing to stand up on stage with an audience of GFY conservabros carrying guns...

They think you are just as nuts as I do..

Again, you're over stating the importance of venue being anti or pro gun.
What is next - you will be saying that they should choose only venues that has anti abortion owners? Things like that are on the bottom of priority lists when choosing the city and/or venue.
Pretty stupid to even try to debate this with you when it seems you have no common sense.

I imagine your imagination, GOP leaders deciding on where to hold the convention: hey guys, give me a list of the cities that have pro gun venues and pro life owners and we will pick the venue from that list. Location, price of the venue, logistics etc is what are the deciding factors, not irrelevant shit like that. Seriously, some of you libbies are genuinely dumb.

I'd prefer they hold it in Iraq or Syria

What makes me laugh about this is how the internet is flooded with conservatives bitching that Hillary thinks it is okay for her security to have guns to protect her, but not okay for average people to have a gun to protect themselves.

Now the GOP is doing the same thing with this venue (I understand it is the venue's policy, but if they really wanted they could get around it or find a different venue) and all of a sudden it is okay.

They have been saying this for years. So if they booked it yesterday or two years ago, it wouldn't matter. It's a talking point to get people to vote against their own interests and it works.
