I don't remember when I did buy a mag for the last time (guess it was "popular mechanics"), because I read everything in the Internet now. Just awoke, went to the WC with my tablet and I know all the news already

P.S. Just opened this and found out I'm too old now

I know little about the Internet. I know something about the porn industry, marketing and selling. The Internet hasn't changed any of that.

Idiots who claim to know the Internet, have changed porn. They give it away for free.

Spotify, listen to music for free with ads or pay around $10 per month for unlimited streaming without ads.

Youtube. Watch all sorts of valuable information content for free or pay to watch premium content either subscription or per program.

Canva. Access stunning design content and a cloud based graphic design application for free and pay for premium content. Produce print ready PDF, TIFF or other graphic formats for commercial use - free.

issuu.com. Read hundreds of current magazine titles for free with ads or access back issues and ad free content with a small monthly subscription.

It's not that Paul doesn't understand the Internet. It's that Paul doesn't understand the modern economy and commercial marketplaces that thrive in 2016. Paul does not understand business and doesn't accede the fact that it's coders and innovators who are revolutionising the way the world consumes and uses content.

The bulk of new content business models are to give things away for free and then charge for premium features or content.

Even when it comes to digital disruption businesses like Uber or AirBnB you see legacy industries decimated by the new sharing economy - and this is all still in it's infancy.

Paul, I am sorry to say this but you are out of touch, so completely out of touch that your dismay at how things happen now is being displayed in endless online rants about the way you think things should be.

The world has moved on into new business models and Paul still talks about audio tape as if it's something one could market today.

I'm sorry Paul, there is no easy way to say this to you without being blunt about it. You have lost touch with how the world works. You have no involvement or understanding when it comes to modern business and your irritation at not understanding that comes through in your incoherent, specious and outdated arguments is painful to observe.

Just accept that things won't be the way you think they should be, because the way you think things should be ended over 20 years ago. The world has moved on and you haven't.

Great post and on the money spot. The only issue many of us have is that unlike the sites you list below, who make agreements and licenses with content providers, I know, I have several in place, Redtube and the MinDGeek folks, Porn.com people etc, seldom if ever...ask for permission to earn revenues from their content.

I like the "free for some content, premium for more model". It works in this world. Blatant and massive theft does not.
