Cloud storage and adult content?

We have dozens of drives here so some cloud storage would be an additional back up but wondered if companies like Dropbox, Onedrive, S3 etc are ok with adult content?

I'm talking many many adult video files and images and while nothing will be shared to anyone else (and only in the cloud as an additional back up), do these companies actually see the contents of the files?

Don't want to sign up to anything and pay a monthly or annual fee and upload tons of files only to have it rejected at a later date as they're classed as 'adult'.
Does anyone use cloud services for adult content for back ups - and if so, which one?

Hey there,

We are launching a new product within the next few months that does exactly this. Many of our clients had mass amounts of content that they needed stored for protection, but not in a web-based environment.

Feel free to shoot me a message at [email protected] to discuss your exact needs and we can go over details.

I should have clarified.

We can do this now if interested. Have not publicly launched yet.

Currently storing over 80 TB in this fashion.

You could always use Amazon S3 and store whatever you want in there (size and content doesn't matter)... Also DigitalOcean Spaces is similar service with easier pricing structure (and probably cheaper but might not be more redundant)...

This is what is called "object storage"... The only downside of this is that you can't preview stuff (no thumbnails in folders etc) you can just upload files to it and download them back once you need something...

Other also good idea is to buy a cheap server with drives in RAID and just upload data in there. There's also a free cloud software, similar to Dropbox with it's own cellphone app for iPhone/Android, desktop clients, full user administration etc... It's called OwnCloud that you can install on that server that you can manage your own cloud.

Third option are Google Drive/Dropbox but you would have to check their terms to see if that's allowed. And even if there's nothing against it - they might say that it's not appropriate etc... Only if you would use Dropbox Business they might probably be fine with it...

Saw this company mentioned in another thread, so cannot vouch for it, but have a look.

https://wasabi.com/pricing/

Have you looked at terms and conditions of the providers you're considering? They probably have something generic about the service not being used for illegal purposes, but if your data is encrypted, there is (theoretically) no way they can ever know what it is.

You should really look into Backblaze B2. https://www.backblaze.com/b2/cloud-storage.html

It's like S3 but way cheaper. Not sure on Adult Content but you can encrypt the data so the provider can't actually see the content if you are concerned.

IDrive.com is OK with legal adult content. I specifically asked them this before signing up and got the green light. Even had them do a restore of some content some time ago and there were zero issues.

They aren't cheap and if you're looking to store TB's worth of static content, there are probably much more cost-efficient options out there.
