Millennials will never know how much fun taking a photograph used to be.
Years ago, before everybody had a camera sewn into their hand, getting your picture taken was something of a fun event.
It was usually, always a 2 person activity. One person, with a real camera, wanted to "take your picture." That alone was complimentary and somewhat fun. There is the pose, the smile and the "flash." Then, you would have to wait days or weeks to actually see the photograph and relive that moment again. Photographs were special and getting your picture taken was special. Of course today, taking a photo is a meaningless act, unless the content is sexual, criminal or worse, anything juicy that will look good on the net or go viral. The selfie is the new masturbation of photography. Why include anybody when you can do it yourself? Not to forget, people no longer have dozens, or hundreds of photos... but 10s of thousands of useless photographs in their phones or computer, that one day will be simply wiped out with one hard drive crash or when their phones get stolen. Today, the excitement is gone from photos and it's almost an insult to people when you ask them to pose for a picture for fear they won't come out right, or it will wind up on the internet. And let's not forget women who are now addicted to filters and photoshoping their faces to the point where they look like cartoons. It's a sad and sorry state of affairs that has taken the fun of getting your picture taken, to now, a disgusting social component that ruins lives and destroys self respect to the point of creating fraudulent filtered head shots for the sake of boosting up one's own self image while giving today's youth more reasons to 'hate the way the look.' |

Millenials wont ever know about tripping over the fucking phone cord either.
But, gotta love Lego for keeping it real. Still feels the same to step on one in the dark in 2016 as it did in 1975.

Getting transparency back from the lab and seeing that everything went well was a great thrill. Selling the sets even better. Something went out of the game when digital took over and online was prepared to accept any crap as long as it was cheap.
What I like now is the high standard some sites demand. |

You left out the part about spending $20-30 bucks to develop a 36exp roll of film - only to discover a dozen good usable shots. Or finding out your camera had a light leak.
