Why would Syria not want to collect the transit royalty fees this pipeline would pay?

I can see why the Russians would see this pipeline as unwanted competition also.

I could spin a Conspiracy Theory of the Russians as having exported Chechen Islamic Jhihadists to instigate the Islamic Terrorist State from this blog bullshit.
