Iran "loses" radioactive nuclear device week after U.S. extends Iran sanctions to '26

Trump wins the presidency and promises to rip up the Iran deal, the U.S. house votes to extend Iran sanctions to 2026 and mysteriously a radioactive Imodium 292 device being transported in a car "goes missing". The device loses half its power within 74 days.

So we can expect a dirty bomb within the next 60 days or so? What are your thoughts? Seems like too much of a coincidence don't you think?

Reservations on Iran Missing Iridium-292 Leading to a "Dirty Bomb" - ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English

Iranian Radioactive Iridium-292 Device Stolen from Bushehr Transport Car | Jewish Press News Briefs | Sunday, November 27, 2016

According to the newspaper, the device went missing after the car transporting it was stolen. Thankfully, the vehicle was recovered, but the radioactive nuclear device was not so lucky.

The missing device is set to lose half of its power after 74 days of inactivity, Tamimi said, noting that it still should be handled with care even after that period.

Iran?s nuclear program has recently entered the spotlight again after Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election. In March of this year, Trump said in a speech addressing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee:

?My number-one priority is to dismantle the disastrous deal with Iran.?

Riyadh ? A missing radioactive device from the Bushehr nuclear reactor has raised concerns of possible misuse or incorrect handling.

The GCC has contacted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over the incident?both organizations are concerned that Iran?s nuclear program may pollute the waters in the Gulf, Asharq al-Awsat quoted GCC Emergency Management Center chairman, Adnan al-Tamimi, as saying.

Most members of the GCC ? which includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman ? desalinate sea water from the Gulf. If contamination from the device were to reach desalination stations, an already critical situation becomes even more critical.

Nothing to see here. Cars get stolen and I'm pretty sure everyone drives around with nuclear devices in their trunk. Happens all the time in Chicago.

Riyadh-Senior Gulf sources revealed that the highly radioactive material stolen recently from Iran?s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant included an alarming supply of Iridium-192 ? which can later be attached to conventional explosives and used as a dirty bomb.

A dirty bomb, if set off, would cause radioactive pollution across the region. The use of the weapon would contaminate the area around the dispersal agent- or conventional explosion- with radioactive material, serving primarily as an area denial device against civilians through radioactive pollution.

The International Atomic Energy Agency defines had warned members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, on Nov.18, with respect to the present hazard, after being given notice by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) on the missing iridium-192, sources told Asharq Al-Awsat.

So Russia is helping Iran build on the Beshehr nuclear and a radioactive nuclear iridium device gets stolen in their presence.

Russia starts Phase 2 construction at Iran?s Bushehr nuclear power plant

Iran will not stand idly by? if US sanctions are extended

It's Trumps fault then. Russia hacked the elections so Trump could be President in turn he could put a stop to the Iran agreement and they would have to stop helping Iran. If Hillary became President the agreement would continue on with said agreement and in turn Russia could continue helping Iran. It's all starting to make sense now. We should have elected Hillary so everyone has the right to drive around with dirty bombs in their trunk.

Radiactive material is missing while Russia helps Iran build up their nuclear power plant.

What did Iran do to America last time we had a Republican president? 911. In March they were ordered to pay billions ($10.7) in damages to the families of 911.

I'm really surprised that this even made the news...it happens in the US on a regular basis. First off - it has nothing to do with nuclear production - it is a radiography source (basically an xray camera) that gets used in the US daily for piping and other components to find cracks in welds etc.

Iridium-192: how dangerous is it?

Quote:
We're all going to die! Calm down. There is a lot of unaccounted-for iridium-192 in the world ? in the US particularly ? but this a relatively small amount, and it is probable the thief or thieves don't even know what they have.

Is it dangerous? It should be safe as long as it remains in its lead-shielded casing. In the meantime, police are appealing to the public to keep an eye out for the missing canister.

Do say: "Don't worry. Unlike some radioactive isotopes, iridium-192 loses its potency quite quickly. No respectable dirty-bomb maker would touch it."
I hope this is correct

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_program_of_Iran
The program was launched in the 1950s with the help of the United States as part of the Atoms for Peace program.[3] The participation of the United States and Western European governments in Iran's nuclear program continued until the 1979 Iranian Revolution that toppled the Shah of Iran.[4] Following the 1979 Revolution, most of the international nuclear cooperation with Iran was cut off. In 1981, Iranian officials concluded that the country's nuclear development should continue. Negotiations took place with France in the late 1980s and with Argentina in the early 1990s, and agreements were reached. In the 1990s, Russia formed a joint research organization with Iran, providing Iran with Russian nuclear experts and technical information.

we stop it here and controlled situation in inside iran. USA have better plan?

It is very correct - typical amounts for Ir used in cameras is around 50-90 Curies. The half-life is 75 days, which means after the first 75 days only half of that is still there. There have been instances of much higher amounts lost in the US...the one notable case many years ago was one where a kid picked it up and put the pellet in his back pocket. Took it home, and ended up dying...but that was a different radioactive isotope (Cobalt if I remember correctly) and much stronger.

The whole concept of dirty bombs is that "nuclear or radioactive" scares the hell out of people and that is all it is really going to be used for - the radioactivity can be cleaned up relatively easily and once dispersed would be so low strength, that it wouldnt have any health effects

Now, if it was Strontium-90 lost in the wild. Hold on to your socks ...

This is a waste product of nuclear fission. Like a power reactor ...

Imagine a bunch of reflective mirriors in space between the earth and the sun, in a circular form, that when turned around and aimed at earth could sizzle any one mile radius on earth causing anything with liquid inside to explode. Boom! Solar bomb
