Google Analytics Spam - just in case you have it

Hello everyone,

Lately I've noticed, in some of my Google Analyitcs numbers, some traffic coming from motherboard vice. It's pure spam and just in case someone else sees this kind of traffic, here is an article that explains it. Also I've seen the same from reddit...

We get those a lot too. I know of the filter method to block it, but why can't Google simply add in a whitelist function in Analytics and just ignore reporting from any other domain?

I've been asking myself the same question... from what i've seen there are some filters that can be used but it's not an easy task.

Not on me, but just Google up referrer spam and you'll find tons of guides. Easy to do, but tedious because the domains keep changing.

If you go in Analytics to Administration›Reporting View Settings you have this option:
Bot Filtering
Exclude all hits from known bots and spiders
