2016 Wrap Up: How Was This Year For You?

As another (leap) year comes to an end - one of the weirdest, strangest, oddest and most bizarre I have lived through - let's look back and see how 2016 treated you.

How was business? Did you make more money this year than you did last year?

How was your personal life? Did you get married or divorced? Have a kid? Move to a new place or get a new job?

For me: my company grew in size, I made more money this year than last and things look promising for 2017. On the personal side I traveled to Canada, Europe and South Beach this year (working from all places), found a new girlfriend, dumped a new girlfriend, got in shape and volunteered at a local pet shelter.

Looking forward to 2017 and meeting some of you in Vegas!

Let's see. After quitting my job in 2015 I tried to make it work this year and am still failing miserably.. My Grandmother died on my Aunt's birthday and my Uncle's best friend died on his daughters wedding day.
I have seen my savings eaten up by bills and my credit score go from a perfect 5 to a 1.
In adult I used to get a cheque a week now I am lucky if I get a cheque every 3 months.

Couple of positives. Brexit and Trump. Aside from that 2016 sucked and I really hope things are going to improve in 2017.

I got a new cat, or rather she adopted me. initially she was going to go to a shelter and then my parents decided to keep her. she had other ideas though and follows me around pretty much 24-7 and has ingratiated herself in with my two kitten boys.

initially named Wailah cuz she screamed a lot when she was a stray we were feeding, now renamed Scrappy Wailah Quinn as she walks with menace. sweet as hell though.

Was a hard year, not bad, hard. My personal life was the hardest part, dealing with family and things, also trying to keep my relation with my girlfriend still hard.

Business was so good, growing and growing but still looking for more

I can feel you on this one. Not bad, just hard. I lost a beloved Aunt in January and had to take care of all the arrangements because my family (tho I love them) are all fucking lame. Dated a few girls, broke up with a few girls, meh.

Both my parents are 67-68, my dad probably has 7-10 years left and my mom might have 20 if she goes easy. Luckily my sister lives in town and is a nurse and will look after her.

I have a 42 yo half-sister. 42 isn't that old for health issues to arrive but my sister is on a vicious cycle. She's around 5'6" and weighs over 300 pounds. She drinks to forget about her issues and that just compounds the problem and adds more to her weight. I can't help but feel she'll expire around the same time my parents do.

The next 5-10 years I'll be the one people come to when they need money or big favors.

And the same to you!!

Stepping up and being the one people count on can be a great treasure and a very honorable way to go through life. However we must never forget that the caregivers need care, too. Finding it for ourselves and giving ourselves permission to accept help and love can be the real challenge.

Your sister has time to change and lose the weight. And medicine is getting to the point where people will easily live past 100 soon. Never give up hope.

Cams And Dating was the quickest to build up versus porn. But I still think there's money in porn if you're in the right area of it.

Marriage is as strong as it's always been. Business is fine selling regularly on Paul Markham Content. Investments are great new pension kicked and we sold one of the houses we bought way back when money was flowing. Health is the only issue, at my age, it's never going to be great after what I went through so it's still a win for us.

2016 was a strange year.

On the business front, it was good and bad. I had some major health issues that kept me from doing much much work for a while, but I'm getting better and things are looking up. I'm busy and have some new projects coming down the pipe very soon. I have a short story that is being made into a short film and another that is having an audio version of it made for a podcast. I told a true story about nearly getting stabbed over a burrito and it ended up on the front page of Reddit.

The health issues started with a staph infection that ended up deep in the tissues of my legs. By the time I realized I had it, damage had been done. I got lymphedema from it and other issues. Had to go on some pretty heavy duty antibiotics and do a lot of physical therapy, but things are finally getting better and I am getting stronger. Also, the girl I am dating and I got engaged. No date set, just playing it by ear.

I had part of the roof of my house fall off in a wind storm. Nothing says fun like coming home and having your house flooded and a hole in the roof. Luckily, I was able to get it fixed before the really bad weather hit.

I also did a lot of simplifying of my life. I owned a piece of property I was working on developing and ended up selling it. I had a cool car that my dipshit nephew took without permission and wrecked last year and I put a lot of time and effort into getting it fixed then ended up selling it when a guy made me an offer I couldn't turn down.

It was a strange journey with a lot of rocky water. Hopefully, 2017 will be a smoother ride.

2015 was better than 2016. I spend whole year just tried not to fuck up stuff I achieved last year. Next year will show if I was any successful. Outstanding stuff (both good and bad) - Car accident back in April and Round trip around Canada in August. Merry Christmas everyone!

Wow it's amazing how much shit can go down in one year, isn't it? I go through my taxes for the year around this time and it's like reliving every adventure, both good and bad, for the year. It's incredible all the stuff you go through (and semi-forget).

Sorry to hear about all the drama but you're still here and, believe me, that's a victory!

2016 was a wild, great ride. My third year in Malaysia, business was great and I developed a serious fetish for women in Hijabs and High Heels.

In July got into a motorbike accident that should have killed me, but only kept me off the streets for 2 months. That time gave me a lot of perspective on how life is great and sometimes short.

I think 2017 will be even better - coming back to New York and opening a place downtown.

It is pretty crazy. As I read through this thread and started thinking about my year I started thinking, "Did that happen this year?" It's wild how it seems (at least to me) like this year flew by, but so much happened I wonder where the time went.

2016 was a more productive year. Got out and did a lot more photography all summer - lots of car shows and other events.

Health-wise the year started out not so good...thought I was dealing with a return of my sciatic nerve issues. But it's eased off now at this time...canceled a long-awaited MRI appointment...so that's a relief.

Overall...can't say 2016 was bad.

Launched a brand new site in June had the old one completely rebuilt and re launched in October... The 2016 with the new sites, the trend $$ is up and so is traffic.... And other then my wife who keeps the geeks in check and takes care of me... All my thanks go to GFY members here...

The one who built and rebuilt my sites
The one who does all my manual uploading and administers my channels.
The one who chases and "kills" pirates.

If any of the three see this feel free to chime in

2016 was a yr, had some good, some bad but overall I am doing better than a yr ago. I ended up in the hospital for a bit in February, which slowed some personal projects down. They are now somewhat back on track. Since my hospital stay, I am down just under 100lbs and seem to be a bit healthier overall.

Workwise, things are great. Steady growth in traffic and sales. Just signed a new contract and am making more than last year.

I got to watch my son graduate high school and then leave for college halfway across the country. He is doing good, his 1st semester just ended and he is currently home for Christmas break.

I am still single, so not sure if that's good or bad, I got a flat tire on my Acura today, but I didn't have to fix it, AAA did it for me, someone also broke the hood ornament off of my Cadillac. I had a new office/dayroom built out back next to the pool and I also booked an Alaskan Passage cruise for this coming June.

So, overall, was a good yr. Could have been better, could have been worse, But here I am.

Wow sounds like quite the year! Sorry about the hospital stay but losing 100 lbs is quite the accomplishment! Glad business is doing so well too. Alaskan cruise in June - nice!!

Some good stories in this thread. Some challenges and health issues too but overall it seems 2016 was a pretty decent year for most folks.
