Anyone shoot with the Cannon 7D?

I'm really interested in its Kodachrome mode. Also are there any significant advantages to the mark 2 over he mark 1

Photo or video?

For video, I'd rather shoot myself in the head than shoot on a Canon DSLR.

No one I know who takes money to produce video shoots on DSLR anymore. You might see some mirrorless Sony or Panasonic folks, but only hobbiests shoot video on Canon DSLR these days. Photography is another story.

My partner has an old 7D. I haven't heard anything about any sort of Kodachrome profile or setting, so I was curious. Being that I also live a few miles from Kodak headquarters.

The problem with a lot of these analog "profiles" is that they're only an "acceptable" approximation of the real thing. I've got a box of more than 100 rolls of 36 exposure Kodachromes and if I could source the chemicals I would do the development myself.

we use our Panasonic FZ1000 4k qfhd. It's neither a DSLR, however, it's provisionally a image camera. We're happy with the video we gain from it though.

What do you use to shoot your movies?

They have one camera that shoots proper 4K video, the last time I bothered to waste time looking. Even if for some strange reason someone actually wanted to use one, they couldn't in this application.

Wedding shooters have also all but abandoned Canon DSLRs for Sony and Panasonic mirrorless in droves, but those still bring a lot of the same limitations that shooting on a DSLR bring. There are quite a few even shooting on RED, Sony and Blackmagic Cinema Cameras.

We have two camera packages Blackmagic Ursa / Ursa Mini 4.6k and Sony a7sii / fs100. There's not a single camera in the Canon line up that is in the same league as these cameras. You might be able to get away with shooting porn on one, but if I showed up to a corporate gig in NYC with a DSLR camera, I wouldn't be working much after that.

You can laugh, but the folks I see still using Canon photo cameras for video are folks buying their first cameras, folks getting hand me downs from others (my 8 year old has a 5DmkII) and people who are no longer taken seriously

Drop me a line with exactly what you'd need.

I'm only a few miles from Kodak's headquarters and lots of folks here still sit on stockpiles of chemicals. My uncle just retired from the Motion Picture film department and has a few connections who've come through in the past.

It's been 20+ years since I did kodachrome developing so I might need to brush up on the K14 process. Therefore my hardest problem is going to be sourcing the chemicals to do a hand processing.

The rimjet backing is easy enough to remove using borax and a soft t-shirt. But the rest is 2 reversal processes plus a chemical reversal and each time it's followed by a dye bath.

It gives you those nice bright colors,
It gives you the greens of summers,
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day.
