From the tons of new regulations the O administration dropped in its twilight days in office to the dramatic US position on the UN resolution on Israeli settlements, it's obvious Obama's not going out without a fight.

You gotta hand it to Obama though, whether you're a fan or not, he has managed to be SUCCESSFULLY LIBERAL in the White House. Not an easy feat considering what happened to LBJ and Carter.

Would you agree that he will go down in history as one of the most CONSEQUENTIAL presidents the US has ever produced?

The funny thing is if Trump hadn't been so aggressive towards Obama he wouldn't be taking these actions. Trump has been a complete asshole, acting like he's president already for the last month, interfering in international affairs, etc. Trump deserves it :tbumbsup

I think he will be remembered as a good President. However, I think his real legacy will be linked to healthcare. If, at some point in the future, we end up with a good healthcare system that keeps costs reasonable, is available to everyone, and doesn't bankrupt the middle class and/or the nation he will be remembered as the guy who got the ball rolling. It may take a while for that to happen.

As for Healthcare. That decision is down to the Healthcare Industry to decide for you. If they see more money in Obamacare and less in what replaces it, Trump's screwed.

I fail to understand why Israel is so important to the US. Can't be economically or militarily. so what's the big attraction?

Last year Spain's king was offering a 3b euro deal with Saudi Arabia, building warships for Saudi. The EU asked for a halt on the sale as it was a bad idea, saying they'll use them on Yemen. The King met & done the deal with negotiations of a treaty, stopping the Saudi's using them against Yemen.

What I do not understand is why have the Yemeni prisoners being released from Guantanamo bay been sent back to Saudi.

A lot of the problems the West makes is thinking these people want to live peacefully. Enough don't to ensure the region will never be at peace.

They have too many old wars to refight to ever be at peace.

I just finished Watching Ottomans vs Europeans. It explains why the Serbs hate Bosnians. It's more about Serbs revenging the atrocities the Ottomans carried out in days gone by. LOL you're the idiot who believes in the Biblical history literally. Jews/Israelites were indigenous Canaanites amongst many other sub-groups of Canaanites occupying and vying for the same land. Yahweh, the God of the OT and NT, was one of the Canaanite gods. Over time the Israelites gravitated towards only Yahweh to be their god, monotheism. The Israelites weren't chosen by Yahweh, the opposite, they chose him. Then they created a foundation myth like all cultures of that time did where Yahweh called out Abraham from Mesopotamia and led him to Canaan which he then granted to Abraham and his descendants because Abraham had listened to him while others ignored the great Yahweh. Whoever made the story up was a genius because that story has now endured thousands of years as have the Israelites now known as Jews. When was the last time somebody told you their ethnicity/nationality was Hittite or Amorite? The survival of the Jews through 3000 years of misery almost makes you think maybe it wasn't just a story. Christianity and Islam originate from the 'book of lies', so over half the people on this planet in 2017 still believe in it - which is astounding and yes somewhat scary.

No government or president is perfect there is always room for improvement. Obamacare is deeply flawed and is a huge money grab for pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies.

Unfortunately the far right has demonized Obama so much that it's literally a mission to "undo" a lot of shit instead of a mission with a vision to be innovative & interupt industry norms that make trillions in profits leaching off our hard work as Americans.

I think, eventually, the US will end up with some kind of socialized healthcare like the rest of the modern world has. We will take the long route to get there, as we sometimes do on things, but eventually we will get there because I can't see any plan either party would put forward that will curb the cost of healthcare which is the real problem. As long as costs continue to rise all the plans in the world won't matter. At some point we will likely have to blow the whole system up an rebuild it. I have no idea when that will happen. I would guess it will be at least another 20+ years.
