I bought a .CAM domain.
I don't know what to expect, but it's a one word domain. I'll post what I do with it once it's up and running.
It was expensive. Wondering if anyone sees good value in these? I bought it because of Barry's announcement and out of curiosity. |

Well, best of luck.
Both the name to the left and the name to the right of the dot matter but you need the right SEO attributes and content to get the "Google Love" you are looking for. I think .cam can be a winner for name recognition. We, as a registry have a lot of brand development to do this year ... Generating better top-of-the-mind branding for the .CAM New gTLD name string (extension). Maybe, I need a 3 titted lady for a mascot or something ![]() |

fair enough if it was something like teens.cam or sex.cam or free.cam but for reviews most people will just google for reviews |

I originally misread this image -->
![]() If the A and O were a bit closer on the keyboard then it would be good for typos. reviews.cOm may get some extra type-in traffic from OP's purchase. ![]() |

You are dreaming .com is not a brand it is a habit that is changing. mynameissillyandlongbutitis.com
.com is not part of any EMD or Branding. Living off or losing typo scraps is not what this is about. sex.cam already has 40% direct traffic type-ins with most of it the result of referrals and name branding -- and we haven't put the intended content on it (yet). I am not losing anything worth worrying about. Your argument is a red herring with 500+ gTLDs available. In time browsers and mobile keyboards will adapt. I have been buying up some new gTLD names and dumping my dead weight .com names that are really not brandable. gTLDs like .cam .date .live .zone even .wtf -- gTLDs with topical branding words. |

review.cam is a Tier 9 premium name $600 or so retail. reviews.cam is a GA (General Access) name at regular price.
The trick for SEO and SERPs would be to get a decent reverse domain name match 'cam reviews' if it was reviewscams.com I could see your point. The '.' is punctuation for the branding in this line of logic. Give it a try. |

I know what you're saying but it would still make me think twice. Especially considering what will be your greatest battle as the owner or .cam.. Those phishing with .cam spoofing .com sites . I do hope for your sake it doesn't happen and that you have some measures in place to monitor it.

Phising is against our TOS. On a verified complaint we will just revoke that name's registration and delete the root DNS for the name (bye-bye).

no, no, no...
reviewadult.cam or xxxreviews.cam, maybe reviewxxx.cam but reviews.cam seems like a lot of hype. Yes you'll have review traffic, but for adult cams, not a big one, sorry, just my ![]()

I think that is the point otherwise a .porn, .sex, .xxx ...
or theonlynameleftwasthispos.com. I own some 5,6,7 L/N.com names that I am keeping but the longer ones I am just throwing back into the 'sea'. Good luck to the fishermen ... |

And yeah I realize this project may not work, but if I said that about some of the sites I've started, I would NOT be where I am now. (this is after I sold my main review site I worked so hard on). |

The last 30 days have been a pretty good test for a domain that is made with very competitive search terms. The direct traffic is typed in sex.cam
Code:
Direct % Change +58.91% Organic Search % Change +130.25% Social % Change +350.00% search cam 73.17% sex 52.44% camS 5.49% All evidence appears that what is to the right of the '.' [.cam] is a ranking FACTOR. Content, semantics then bounce and return traffic are also factors like they are with any other domain. .cam is just a ranking edge you can buy for around $30year -- that is chickenfeed for a shot at better SERPs. A few sales pay for the whole years registration price ![]() |

Anything in a gTLD that compliments the NAME is a plus. But this is something you can also workout with sub.domain for SEO.
With few exception, most gTLD's are not being used. Simple investor over-speculation. They are being traded heavily and create a lot of attention for it. But I fail to see many successes that could not have also been done by other means for a lower to the same cost and effort. Any many are also using a similar .com pointed to the same page. But this will likely change over time. So invest in the future now for interests you have for it. The best do not stay un-reg'd long. Buying them in the aftermarket is not the best choice if you have a future plan. For the present time, you can't 'sell me' on new gTLD's except with strong single keywords where they completely compliment each other. Perhaps you have one ? They can present unique branding opportunities. I wish you the best for it and hope it does well for you. Be sure to let everyone know if you can claim success. But I find it hard to know if some other method would have worked better/easier so the question will always remain unless it becomes a instant easy performer. If you should find yourself in need of VR/360 Adult cam/tube in .com's name let me know. I have a fair supply. I don't plan to use them all. |

Like I say
".cam is just a ranking edge you can buy for around $30year -- that is chickenfeed for a shot at better SERPs. A few sales pay for the whole years registration price ![]() Doesn't work out? 301 the name if it makes sense or just drop the name, keep the HTML -- and try with a new name. If you are developing a branded cam site, or for that matter whatever extension, add to the memorability of the name moniker ... Top-of-mind branding is a long term expensive project. I 'own(really legally a leasehold)' both the .cam and the .cam on some SLD names -- I will redirect the .com to=>the .cam for the branding value -- that is the ideal situation for now. With 500+ new gTLDs it is not economically feasible to URS Arbitrate every registration if you have a trademark ($500 to $1,000 ea). On the .com side -- many names will end up dropped if they are not in use or are not particularly valuable. So, having matched domain names in a few key TLDs will become the rule. It's probably cheaper than obtaining a trademark registration in most cases where you can't get the registration. However, spending 10s of thousands on a name with no trademark is lunacy. |
