The U.S. Transportation Department has taken its first steps to undo actions by the administration of Barack Obama to improve consumer protections for airline travelers, putting on hold a proposal to require more disclosure of passenger fees.

The process of collecting public comments for the proposal has been suspended, President Donald Trump?s DOT said in a posting dated Thursday on the Regulations.gov website.

Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao?s move was praised by Airlines for America, the Washington trade group for large carriers. ?We applaud Secretary Chao?s leadership today and look forward to an era of smarter regulation that protects consumers from unfair practices, but does not step in when action is not warranted,? A4A President and CEO Nicholas Calio said in a release.

The agency is also delaying the implementation of a separate regulation requiring airlines to disclose when they mishandle wheelchairs and motorized scooters for the disabled, according to another filing. The rule, which became final on Dec. 2, won?t take effect until Jan. 1, 2019, a one-year delay, according to the DOT?s notice.

The move had been sought by A4A and Delta Air Lines Inc., according to the DOT notice.

Airlines generate about $4 billion a year in bag fees, and the Obama administration announced last fall it would seek to make them disclose those fees when people purchase their tickets.

Flying has always been a bad experience this will make absolutely no change.

I can't think of a good airline -- I just expect to have problems.
Airline personnel, particularly in Europe's airports, are some of the most rude and incompetent people I have ever had to deal with.
Airlines have some of the worst corporate policies I have ever encountered.
Airlines treat paying customers as the enemy adversary usually.
Airlines are also a very risky stock investment -- like Trump they go bankrupt a lot.

I just saw a video of 4 American children's father being arrested by ICE as he was driving them to school. ICE could have been more respectful of the family and gone about their business in a humane way.

All Trump has done since running for office is create confusion, anger, hate and sadness while cutting any restrictions possible for big business and banks. He energises angry people who hate others, stupid people that can't make a better life for themselves, foreigners who want America to fail and the ultra rich who want to take advantage of others and hoard money. Very interesting times.

They are emboldened by Trump to publicly hate & judge now, I think for this they are willing to let Trump do anything he wants. They can still have no job, no increased income, lose their healthcare, etc. but they know others are suffering more getting detained, kicked out of the country, and those different than them are legally treated as less and kept from entering the country. They think they'll be getting jobs as the illegals are kicked out.

Obvious and easy solution to all the problems. Pay more for a better service. For instance fly BA, Emirates, Thai, Singapore, Business class, etc.

BA bumped me on a reservation from Orly to London -- I missed my transatlantic flight by 2 hours.
I had to pay Delta a $250 penalty for a flight the next day and the overnight stay in London cost $300 total

Fuck BA stay the hell away from them. They are the worst.

Czech Airlines fucked up our reservations (3) in 2012 -- when I started really getting pissed they found some non adjacent seats -- I had flight to connect with in Amsterdam Shipol transatlantic again.
