rap is not music

it is poetry.

That still doesnt explain country music.

Billy Ray Cyrus is in a show about a country doctor fresh to the city. WTF? Its not like Trading Spaces has a character based on Ja Rule.

However, classic country is okay...anything labeled new country is garbage.

Would that include Lyle Lovett? I don't like classic country very much, but I love Lyle.

And I must say, female country singers are way cuter than the average rock chick. Would you rather do Shania Twain or Courtney Love?

I like Waylon, I like David Allan Coe.

I like Merle Haggard, and I like Willie Nelson.

And I damn sure like Johnny Cash.

I'm with ya as far as Willie and Johnny, though what I heard of his last album (Johnny's, I mean) was crap.

Ive seen Willien Nelson, Waylon, and Johnny cash all live and loved every show.

the guys are dinosaurs, except Waylon (RIP) you cant judge on now, but think of the things they DID release.

i have tons of Hank Willians 1 music here, just because he died in 53 I cant play it?

I play old country all the time, its good music, like BoxCar Willie, and Hank Sr, hell I can drink on that bro.

i think ill play 'Lonesome Highway" by Hank Sr right now.

I didn't know I liked Lyle Lovett until I saw him on Austin City Limits. It's really kind of hard to define him as "country" because he's all over the place with his music.

I also like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash and a lot of the geezers of country. I have a nearly pathological hatred of 99% of what I hear as "country" music today, but every once in a while a song slips through with a nice Rockabilly sound to it that catches my ear.

I usually listen to pop but I recently discovered a real cool new band that is not really "poppy" it's the most "grungiest metal" music I listen to, its called Evanescence. Anyone else like it? Their songs are kind of crazy and mental, I think the person that wrote the songs was a bit kooky, but I like it!!!

sadly enough rap mostly tends to attract shallow annoying ignorant fucks. simply no depth, ah, the atrocities.

and most of those people are white. 80% of the white people i've met that love rap music have serious identity issues.

Definitely not music.

Bullshit designed to screw a certain section of the populace out of their money and to sell car stereos.

Only thing in history that it could even remotely be compared with is the Beatnik era from the 50's where guys stood on stage reciting earth shattering nonsense that would change the world.

Never was nominated for any Grammy's though.

Had a small, ground breaking. dope smoking, cult following however.

Could argue that Bob Dylan came out of it, for better or worse, don't know if i'd call that music either.

If I were that segment of the population that this is being marketed to, i'd be a little more hip and embrace the real music makers like BB King, Robert Johnston and all the others blues men that earned respect, paid their dues, started rock and roll and will be forever blessed throughout history for their efforts.

Rap is just noise.

All music is just noise. Some you like, some you don't.

i guess you have to be a certain color to enjoy music?

You should put away the hood before David Duke calls and asks for it back.

You got that right. Most people that say rap is shit should preface it by saying MTV rap is shit and then they would be correct. However rap is as diverse as any other music type and consequently the good stuff doesn't get much airplay or tv time. I think the rap music on the radio and MTV is shit, but I listen to rap and there is stuff out there that's not about cars and jewelry. So speaking without knowledge only serves to make one a dumbass.
