Any Canadians buy stock online?

I've been considering starting to trade stock online, anyone know the best places for Canadians to do this? Anyone know if we can use places like etrade and ameritrade?

Both Ameritrade and eTrade have set up shop in Canada and just type in the .ca and you should reach them. I think its easiest just using your banks online trading platfoirm though, as it makes all the transfers easier and less hassle.

Also, it is a regulated industry so there is no benefit to go with a "discounter" like Ameritrade...when you are paying the same as your banks system.

you're gonna have a hard time bro, the market is crazy right now...even the big fish is having trouble swimming right now. If you are a noob at trades, I suggest either don't invest a large ammount of money or be damn sure you won't loose....

my $0.02

Cheers!

True but I hate my bank, they've been very biased against me since I started getting checks from porn companies.

I appreciate the advice, but I'm not new to trading, just internet trading. Also, I'd never invest money I can't afford to loose.

I use eTrade... pretty good interface and definitely better than Royal Bank. When it comes down to per trade, the prices of everyone in Canada are almost identical.

I would recommend etrade.ca, I do all my stock trading there and am very pleased with their service. The starting commission is $19.99. Their prices beat the TD Canada Trust's waterhouse. Here is a link for you eTRADE

I use Datek which Ameritrade just acquired. Really fast trade executions. Easy to navigate interfaces. Never had a single problem with them.
