The extended boycott of over 250 big brands has caused Google to state today that they are instituting tougher guidelines on hateful, offensive and derogatory content and Youtube fake channel curators are banned from advertising.

?We deeply apologise,? says company?s CBO Philipp Schindler as he announces tougher stance on hateful, offensive and derogatory content

In response, Schindler has promised a three-tier overhaul of Google?s advertising policies, both on YouTube and on the company?s wider ad products.

First, Google itself is going to tighten its policies around what can live on its platforms, and what subset of that content can support advertising on it. ?Starting today, we?re taking a tougher stance on hateful, offensive and derogatory content,? Schindler says. The company is also ensuring that fake creators ? those who impersonate other channels ? can?t host advertising. Schindler also says YouTube is ?taking a hard look? at existing community guidelines to see if any content is allowed on the platform that shouldn?t be, though no action is promised.

Second, the company is promising better controls for advertisers to choose where their money goes, and to prevent accidentally spending it on hateful content. The default options for advertisers will be tightened, to exclude ?potentially objectionable? content from the off. Advertisers themselves will be given account-level tools to exclude specific sites and channels from all of their campaigns at once, as well as more fine-tuned controls for when advertisers need specific say over where their ads appear.


Third, Schindler writes that advertisers and agencies will be offered ?more transparency and visibility on where their ads are running?. That should help advertisers avoid awkward situations like those that prompted the boycott in the first place, where advertisers only discovered their ads were showing up on extremist content after a Times report. The Google executive also promises to hire ?significant numbers of people?, as well as bring in new AI-powered tools, to increase the company?s capacity to review questionable content for advertising.

This is the establishment libtards tightening their grip on controlling the narrative. Just look at what they've done this year alone:


Facebook has removed the "latest" tab from search results that displayed uncensored content less than a minute old. Now they show only the sanitized results ("posts" tab etc..)

Twitter has blocked images from "controversial" accounts (even PewDiePie), requiring users to log in and disable the filter.

Google Adsense revenues for many right wing sites crash overnight. Sites that were making a good daily income suddenly make basically nothing. As if someone at Google flipped a switch.

I was checking my channel stats today for the last 48 hours and right now since about 24 hours ago my views are almost gone! I already emailed them thinking it is a glitch... but this is fucking crazy.

From 4000 views per hour to 200 views per hour.... 20 times less in an instant... that's roughly 100k views a day to 5k views a day... Jesus christ. These assholes keep destroying my channel like there is no tomorrow...

I like the idea of advertisers choosing where their ads appear. I remember a guy was upset and saying Google was censoring him because ads were pulled from a video. This would take Google out of the picture and Google can just say "the advertisers don't want to pay you for your content".

I rarely see ISIS gore vids on YouTube. What this is really about are the channels covering Trump, guns, black on white violence and other no-go zone topics. They have even gone after actual content creators....

True, I don't have any google ads on any of my youtube videos.

But, I would not want to be paying for my ad to be appearing on a Murdoch Murdoch video or an episode of The Daily Shoah. While I do support their freedom of speech, I shouldn't have to pay them.

The gay themed vids on YT have been there for 10+ years. If christians were going to get them restricted it would have been years ago when the vast majority of the right was anti-gay. Times have changed. The ONLY group in this country that is so anti-gay that they would press YT to restrict those vids is the muzzies. The christian right has gotten calmer on this issue over the past decade. The muzzies have gotten more vocal as their population here increases.
