Has anybody seen Trainspotting 2 ? Because....

It appears to be dying a horrible death at the box office.

3rd week total gross: $ 1,177,507

Dam. I haven't seen it yet and was afraid of Hollywood ruining another great film by making a 'shit fuck for bucks' remake. Looks like they may have succeeded.

UNLESS: All the fans of first film, just won't shell out $15 for a sequel and are waiting for the dvd rental?

Maybe there is a chance it's good? (grasping at straws here)

But the numbers look dismal.

Or this might be the reason: FUCK!! Have you seen the top 10 list of movies this week??

1) The Boss Baby
2) Beauty and the Beast
3) Ghost in the Shell
4) Power Rangers
5) Kong: Skull Island
6) Logan
7) Get Out
8) Life
9) CHiPS
10) The Zookeeper's Wife

All movies for little kids. Animation, explosions, robots, monsters, horror, tv remake and family rated G drama.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FUCKING BOX OFFICE?????

THERE ARE NO MOVIES FOR ANYBODY WITH HALF A BRAIN AND IS OVER THE AGE OF 30.

Even if Trainspotting 2 was half decent, it would never stand a chance because it doesn't capture the interest of the 12 year old buying audience. If they only turned Renton into a transformer and Spud grew some steel claws out of his hands then MAYBE people would go see it.

Yeah, I went to see it. 1st time I've been to an actual cinema since 1994, when I took my kid to see 'The Lion King'...

Was it good? Yes and No tbh. As a stand alone film not really. As a 20 year later follow up to the first one, enabling me to see the same characters (played by the same actors) and find out what they were doing now and what they had been up to, then yes. It was fantastic.

Would I go see it again? No way, but as a one off it was great.

As far as I'm aware, the original didn't do very well in the USA did it? All I remember was that americans had trouble with the deep scottish accents, meaning they felt alienated from the film?

Not surprising it's flopping, the first one was a niche movie.

It's not made in or by Hollywood, and it's a sequel -- not a remake. And just because no one went to see it, doesn't mean it's shit. I haven't seen it yet, but Danny Boyle is a good director with a good track record, so it's probably not bad.

Great actors... But script might be a way better.
Shame on script-writers.

90's stuff is dated.

In fact, Hollywood is dated. Time to leave it behind.

Had no idea it was in the theaters.. but honestly I'd never expect a movie like that to do well in the theaters. Like the 1st one, I'd suspect it would do better in dvd sales. Well downloads or blue ray what ever the thing is now..

Sadly for movies to do well in the US, they have to cater toward the high school to 20 somethings.. ie lot of explosions , cars or space ships and hot chicks with no real purpose other than being hot..

Another "oy vey, muh six million". We're done with it.

Hollywood will die by its own propoganda. Even the majority who aren't jew-wise are voting with their feet.

Yes we know know you hate Hollywood, minorities, jews, Gays and you support Putin & Trump we know.

Movies released off season ( now ) are known in advance to be weak. The really awesome movies are released during the summer & winter holidays. I know I know, you don't think Hollywood has any good movies we get it

As a fan of the first one, I appreciated seeing what the characters were up to today. It felt a little overly self-referential and nostalgic for itself, which could've been deliberate as that was one of the thematic concepts.

The first one did well because it was a trendy film about heroin when heroin was trending.
