Samsung S7 / Android question...
I like to listen to audiobooks. They are sometimes up to 25 hours long in total. I need to keep the program running in the background of the phone at all times, otherwise I lose my place...
On my old phone, it just did that, no problem, however on the S7 it closes the app (Play Music) to save battery... Obviously I want the battery savings in general, but I'd like to exclude that particular app from being shut down... Any ideas (step by step) how I can do this? Please dont be too techy, as I'm new to the S7 having come from a Galaxy Ace ![]() I have googled and there are plenty of instructions on how to do this in Marshmallow, but as my phone is Nougat, the options dont seem to be there to do this anymore... Thanks |

I think you need to specifically allow it to run in the background.
But if it still will not, find a new reader that will allow you to place a bookmark in any case. That would be preferred over allowing it to run in background. Or auto-remembering where you left off is best. Check option settings for app. It's the APP more than the phone. |

if the appīs left running, itīs definitely going to run the battery down further anyway. So even a few dollar on a preferred app would seem the best option ![]()

Yeah, I'm realising that there are dedicated audio book players now... All a bit new to me after just having a shitty phone that all it really did was play audio books to me for so many years!
Ideally I wanna be listening to the book on headphones while Im out, then when I come in I hit pause on the headphones and disconnect them. Use the phone for whatever, then when I go out again, plug in the headphones and hit pause on cord and it starts up again from where it left off... Thats pretty much how it worked with my old phone and I'm just trying to recreate that ease of use... Dont really wanna start up the app separately, and have to pause it etc via the phone - Just hit the button on the ear bud lead and be done - on and off ![]() I'm sure I will find something that does that simple enough.. After all, the 'ace' did it perfectly OK since 2011 ![]() |

Just to update this thread incase anyone else in in the same position and searches GFY...
I have found 'Smart Audiobook Player' which is ideal - Free for 30 days then $2.00 to continue using the full unrestricted version... It does everything I want and more. It even rewinds ten seconds if it gets interrupted by a system alert from the phone while you are listening. Perfect ![]() Its really very good and I highly recommend it ![]() |
