Donald Trump wants to redirect funding for countries affected by climate change towards the construction of coal plants.

Using its seat on the U.N. Green Climate Fund (or GCF) board, the United States will work to advance U.S. energy interests globally, according to an official who spoke on condition of anonymity with Bloomberg. In step with the Trump administration?s broader efforts to revive the coal industry, the official said the United States will encourage countries receiving GCF funds to construct ?clean? coal plants. Lobbying for spending money on natural gas infrastructure globally will also be a priority.

This is the kind of thing that Trump campaigned on and is another campaign promise he is delivering.

These kinds of agreements have cost families their livelihoods here in the US and are part of the reason so many people in our country have ended up on food stamps.

I hope Trump continues to tear apart all these global agreements that benefit other country's while fucking our own country over.

There is no such thing as "clean coal", the best you can get is "less filthy". Typical coal plants use like 200 rail cars of coal per day. Of those 200 railcars, 150 or so goes up the smokestack to the atmosphere each day, the other 50 is the ash that has to be dumped somewhere.

There are a lot of issues with some of the global warming programs/regulations, but in the end, the United Stated increased clean energy production by about 55% during Obama's administration.

No matter what may or may not have happened under Obama, Elon Musk has put forth an idea stating that we could use a 100 mile X 100 mile area of Nevada or Utah for solar panels and that area could provide enough energy to power the entire country. IMO looking into this and seeing if this would work and how we would go about implementing it should be a priority.

I'm in complete agreement on solar panels in the desert. And no...Musk isn't the first to talk about that.
That concept of 100 miles of solar panels out here in the desert has been around for a long time.

Matter of fact, back when Bush and Obama did their dueling "bail outs"... I brought that up on GFY, as I had read an article on it a couple of years before.

I think solar is great. But Pres. Obama punished the traditional energy providers in order to artificially raise the price of fossil fuels so that his buddies in Green Energy could make fortunes (and be handed billions of dollars of taxpayer money).

That kind of shit is heartless and un-American.
Families were already struggling to make ends meet...and the brilliant idea of Obama was to raise the price of fuel.
That drives up the price of everything.

So hard working people now had to spend more money to go to work, to buy groceries and clothing, to heat and cool their homes...all so Obama's Green Energy cronies could get filthy rich.

And then he slapped extra costs on people by forcing them to buy fucking health insurance on top of higher costs for fuel.

It's only a surprise to snowflakes that Trump easily won and that Democrats are out of power nationwide.

The major problem is Trump has been rolling back regulations to the point they don't even need to report on emissions now.

germany is actually only importing 21,5% of his complete energy (we had a time with over 50%)

the rest is produced in the country.
still 2/3 with conventional power plants but 1/3 already with green energy.

in 2022 the green energy will be 50% and 2040 we are at 90%.

green energy becomes every day cheaper while the coal need every day more subventions. in fact coal could not even survive without getting money from the tax payer - not in europe and not in USA. it is already useless and more expensive than every other solution.
in not more than 10-15 years the renewable energy will be the cheapest around and underground oil will not be profitable anymore.

all other oil we need (i.e. for lubricants) can be produced from LIVING plants and those plants will consume the CO2 while growing.

Germany to withdraw not ecological production from the country. But coal can sell not directly, in Ukraine, Poland as example, on EU/IMF credits and donations. Lubricant from plants/animals it is good(salo as in Ukraine). But oil has much more place in our life.

There's nothing wrong at all with the idea of course, and lets face it, the United States really needs this.

What I am trying to point out is: "International Funding" usually means the United States paying the big majority of that "funding".
In other words taking money from OUR taxpayers and handing it to other country's.

And in this case...it is country's that are potential CUSTOMERS of U.S. energy resources.

So, from a business perspective...the United States would be paying other country's to NOT be our customers.
That is a LOSE/LOSE proposition for the U.S.

And it's just one of many in a long line of stupid decisions made by bureaucrats.

I voted for Trump for the economy. This is part of what working people are sick and fucking tired of.

Killing our own economy...just really, really dumb.

As far as the "Green Energy" vs. fossil fuels debate...I'm not arguing that.

I want solar energy because it SHOULD be free. And the only reason that we DON'T have solar in more abundance is because it IS free.
But now that big companies and the power utilities have figured out a way to make sure that they can keep their recurring billing model by keeping solar panels way over-priced and "renting" the panels with payment plans spread out over 20 years...we are finally starting to see solar energy being used.

I am certain that the technology is only going to get better and better and better. And that electric cars are the future.

Having said all of that, it's still a stupid decision to hurt our own economy and not take advantage of new technology that has enabled us to discover vast reserves of fossil fuel resources that we didn't even know existed 20 years ago.
Also technology that DOES make burning fossil fuels "cleaner" than ever before.

Car emissions are the lowest they've ever been. And every year, more smart people are creating new ways to get faster cars that run more cleanly than the year before.

That will continue. And solar technological advancements will continue as well.

There is no need to have the Federal Govt. put us in global agreements that deliberately hurt our economy in the meantime.

We also need to keep in mind that once we stop manufacturing stuff here and instead manufacture it in another country because it's less expensive...that "other country" probably has NO regulations at all.

So the "carbon footprint" is giant in the "other country". And since we all live on the same planet...it doesn't "help" us to have those jobs in that "other country".

I believe there is a "Sweet Spot" (just like there is with anything). Enough regulations to ensure safety and environmental protection WITHOUT hurting business.

I think that big govt. (like it always does)...went past the "sweet spot" a couple of decades back. And the EPA makes "law" (unconstitutionally) by it's regulations.
So we end up with our companies and businesses being ruled over by an unelected group of bureaucrats in the EPA.

I hope Trump reigns that shit in. And like you, I hope he doesn't go TOO far the other way.
But that's the beauty of the vision of the Founding Fathers. We have 3 equal branches of govt. AND we have elections.

If Trump fails at his job...let's kick his ass out in 4 years. If Congress continues to fail...kick their ass out in 2018.
